Hiya all Im looking for a fairly simplistic way of slideshowing my images from RL inc fantasy art, CGI, Fractals I've done etc onto a prim without having to drag each one kicking & screaming into SL via 'upload image'. These images are of great asthetic appeal to me and I love working/building with these images showing in the background and even sometimes inspire me for an idea for a new project or technique.
Most of the images have to be brought into Photoshop and resized and centralised onto a 1024 canvas because of their varying aspect ratios....It's just so time consuming!
So is this possible? Ive seen on SLX a tool/setup that will slideshow your 'Flickr' images within SL but I just want to show my images, which are not on a public gallery type website, for my viewing only (or anyone that happens to be in my skybox at the time)
So there is presumably a 'vehicle' in place for this already? maybe requiring me to upload my images onto a webserver and doing a small amount of custom configuring & setup via urls?
Ideally, I would prefer them to come in from my HD. It doesnt have to be pics that are usable in anyway as textures etc...(Im not trying to bypass the $10L upload fee!) just as long as I see them in full colour & quality as original. I have a large 10m frame now with just 10-11 of my fav fantasy art images slideshowing every few minutes but I want to slideshow more, with even a random option etc.
Any idea/options/tips would be greatly appreciated

Use parcel media, and do it that way with video?
Not sure how, but probably possible...

Video would work but you are probably better off just using a texture viewer. I realise the viewer I dropped on you was entirely unnecessary and unwanted - sorry.

I think you can display jpg files, among other file types, with parcel media viewers if the files are on webservers.

No Problem Osprey (I saw your IM before seeing your post!)
Have a dozen different texture viewers and faders but just wanted something on larger scale, quicker to bring into sl (esp if I could do it via HD!)

I've set up a slideshow that can play an endless number of images using a land media texture. I modified these scripts: http://craig.cmehil.com/2007/07/second-life-meet-flickr-tv.htmlhttp://craig.cmehil.com/2007/08/second-life-image-tv-script.htmlThe script calls a php script on my server which creates an array of filenames from a directory of files and then traverses the array by slicing it into chunks of 25 images which is pulled in with http request. The number is incremented by the prim script. Works well... - i

you could use a texture changing script inside a prim then drop the textures into the contents of the prim

I uploaded some images to ImageShack ( http://www.imageshack.us/) and whipped up the following script. It uses the parcel media. Note the difference in ImageShack's friend link versus the direct link. Friend: http://img372.imageshack.us/my.php?image=nasapix01ll4.jpg Direct: http://img372.imageshack.us/img372/7613/nasapix01ll4.jpg The code: float DELAY = 10.0; //number of seconds to wait before showing next slide integer gIsRunning; list gPictures; integer gCurPic; ShowPicture() { llParcelMediaCommandList([PARCEL_MEDIA_COMMAND_URL, llList2String(gPictures, gCurPic)]); gCurPic++; if (gCurPic == llGetListLength(gPictures)) { gCurPic = 0; } } default { state_entry() { llSetTimerEvent(0); gIsRunning = FALSE; gCurPic = 0; // gPictures = ["http://img372.imageshack.us/my.php?image=nasapix01ll4.jpg"]; gPictures = ["http://img372.imageshack.us/img372/7613/nasapix01ll4.jpg"]; gPictures += ["http://img55.imageshack.us/my.php?image=nasapix02nq9.jpg"]; gPictures += ["http://img503.imageshack.us/my.php?image=nasapix03ly6.jpg"]; gPictures += ["http://img502.imageshack.us/my.php?image=nasapix04ae3.jpg"]; gPictures += ["http://img60.imageshack.us/my.php?image=nasapix05wl6.jpg"]; gPictures += ["http://img524.imageshack.us/my.php?image=nasapix06gz0.jpg"]; gPictures += ["http://img55.imageshack.us/my.php?image=nasapix07io3.jpg"]; gPictures += ["http://img355.imageshack.us/my.php?image=nasapix08fc1.jpg"]; gPictures += ["http://img172.imageshack.us/my.php?image=nasapix09kp4.jpg"]; gPictures += ["http://img502.imageshack.us/my.php?image=nasapix10wh0.jpg"]; gPictures += ["http://img503.imageshack.us/my.php?image=nasapix11kp2.jpg"]; gPictures += ["http://img372.imageshack.us/my.php?image=nasapix12nk8.jpg"]; llOwnerSay("Slideshow is not running, click to start."); } touch_start(integer total_number) { if (llDetectedKey(0) == llGetOwner()) { if (gIsRunning) { llOwnerSay("Slideshow is no longer running."); llSetTimerEvent(0); gIsRunning = FALSE; } else { llOwnerSay("Slideshow is now running."); ShowPicture(); llSetTimerEvent(DELAY); gIsRunning = TRUE; } } } timer() { ShowPicture(); } } --Hugsy
