Rezzing linked items back where they were

I haven't seen this question asked exactly this way, so my apologies if I missed it.

For some reason, my partner was doing something with our land, and all of a sudden I have the awful linked item in my lost and found folder, and we now have 400 prims free and most of our (my) furniture gone. It's a combination of furniture from two floors and some things from outside: landscaping, an orca, etc. (Not quite sure what he did, but I suspect I hadn't put the correct group on these items, because not everything I own on the parcel was returned. But no matter, because it still happened, and he's in the doghouse, lol.)

I'm only aware of two options to recover from this, and both are a lot of work, and I'm dreading them.

1) Stand in the living room and rezz the linked item. Is there any way to control where they materialize? Technically, they're all positioned correctly, if I could find the right place to rezz it.

2) Go to my personal sandbox and rez there, and then gather up things grouped as rooms, ie, the living room furniture all at once, and go rerezz in the appropriate spot.

3) Is there a number 3 that will save me the hour plus all this gathering and rezzing and moving will cost me, plus frustration?

Thanks so much!

Yeah...I'd like to know the answer to that too. I've had that happen to me (someone very nastily returned my stuff...but that's another story).

Rezzing in just the right spot would be great. Is there a way to know where?

:o I may be wrong, but! I think that if you have your edit window open and rez the item, you will be able to move it as a whole into the proper spot. Just don't release it as the item you are editting until done.

No, you're not wrong. I do that all the time.

I usually make large complex builds and keep them in inventory as a coalesced mass until I get it finished, then rez-faux it together.
