I have been thinking about this for a bit now. where do people who do not rent or own land, keep their magic box for slex?
I have redesigned my land, combined the club and the arcade, and have thought about using the space behind the club as a space for ppl to rent 2 to 5 prims (cheaply) for placing magic boxes and such for places like slex onrez and vendor systems that require a central item for placing objects for sale (like jevn does)
anywho, was wondering if there is already a solution for something like this, or if it might be handy.

SLEX has an option for allowing storage for people who do not have a place to keep their boxes. I don't know how much they charge though.
I keep my boxes under the docks where some of my furniture is displayed.

As the Magic Box is moddable, I turned it into an ornamental vase. Previously I've had it as a table and a rug. Quite a few objects around my house contain scripts that would otherwise need an extra prim.

I keep mine in my skybox. However, I also have a few backups in other sims (just in case) and those are on 16m parcels I bought for 100L or so each. They support 3 prims each which makes them useful for this and it's a few less parcels for an adfarmer to annoy others with.

I never thought of that, it is always good to use backups I guess I need to check for some cheap 16m plots

Hallelujiah.....I'd posted a question on Slx regarding whether or not the magic box was mod.....i never got an answer so I would like to thank you from the bottom of my virtual heart for inadvertantly solving my connundrum... I shall now go in-world and probably turn my magic box into something that's more fitting with the decor.... By the way, would this principle also apply to the boxes from Onrez?

All my server boxes (SLX + backup, OnRez + backup, several custom updater servers etc. etc.) are in a heap of boxes in a corner of my sim on top of my work area high in the sky.
Ok, i got a sim, so i can spare the prims without needing to turn them into vases, lamps, turkeys , cheese wheels or whatever would fit the scenery.
Got a 2nd backup going in a 70m mainland sim corner parcel, high up in the sky, hidden inside black box with logo. (no, not an ad). only thing i use my premium 512m tier for.
I generally forget to refresh/update the boxes on mainland sim. Mostly because hate stupid repetitive labour things.

I burried mine in the ocean floor under my store and have backups in my home sim in the cabin of my ship.

I didn't realize the boxes were moddable. That's good to know.
Putting the boxes under the water makes more sense than under my dock. I can't believe I didn't think of that. It's amazing how real life limitations are hard to shake sometimes.

Himself has planted them in the lounge ... I don't use SLX to sell anything (yet!) but he has both SLX and OnRez there.

is there any special code or anything?

It's 50L a month to host your slx box on their land. I used that option for a while even when I had my own store. Now I have mine flattened like an envelope and stuck to my store bulletin board...right next to my onrez box.
Rhaorth, I don't think you do anything special. The 2nd box will contact slex when you rez it and you will see both of them appearing in your merchant page.

K thanks, I think tomorrow I will look for some 100 or less 16m plots to rez my backup boxes on (maybe 2 or 3 different sims) if you have a 16m plot near you priced around or under 100L let me know, I will buy it, remove the ugly ads and use it for my backup box

Like Crunch, I keep mine out in plain view. Says right on the box "Touch for my items on SL Exchange", so I figure someone here and there might put that info to good use!

One's just sitting on my workshop platform, along with a bunch of tools and my onrez box. The one on a different sim on the 4x4 plot lives underneath the tree. Not exactly six feet under, but you get the idea.

I JUST put all my products on SLEX and ONREZ this week...setting everything up on one, greatly speeds up the setup on another (due to copy/pasting).
I put both magic boxes next to my rent box on the second floor of my studio..they are small, and out of the way. If I thought they were in the way, I would put them underground.
I don't have any sales yet...only a few days up...but I have a few dozen views. Cheers.
