I have been unable to get logged in on Windlight since yesterday. I reinstalled it, but every time I try to get in, I get as close as hearing the wind in my ears and it crashes every time. Anyone else?

I like looking at the pretty, pretty clouds. I look like a hag in Windlight, but we'll move on...

:-)

I downloaded the new version this morning and have logged in with it a few times already. Have you tried the usual: clear cache, try logging into a different area?

I've also had hassles logging in with the Windlight client, but I got in eventually.

As far as clearing cache, I guess I'm not sure about one thing.
When you clear cache in one viewer, does that clear cache for ALL viewers? Is it all stored in the same shared file? I clear cache almost every day as a matter of habit in the standard SL viewer.

As far as trying to log in to a different place, there are no preference options as far as I can see on the Windlight login page.

hmm.

"Preferences" moved back up under "Edit" on the login page (kinda where one would expect it, had we all not trained ourselves otherwise), and from there you get to set Start Location options. The cache location is also set in Preferences (under the Network tab) which should default to the same location for all viewers of the same machine user.

I think she meant, "If I clear my cache when using the Windlight viewer, does it clear my cache for other viewers as well?"

The answer is yes, IMO. All your viewers use the same cache file, at least as far as I can tell.

Yes, each windows login will have its own cache area, but all viewers used by a specific windows login will use the same cache area. I have also seen recommendations that when things get a bit flakey, go manually delete everything out of the cache location. The exact location of yours will be shown in your viewer Prefrences, but under XP it usually defaults to:
C:\Documents and Settings\<windows-login-id>\Application Data\SecondLife\cache
