File uploading as texture, not picture?

I rented an ad board that requires me to upload my picture to it, and I took a bunch at a photo studio that I downloaded to my hard drive so I could edit them (cropping and such). When I upload them to my library (File>Upload Image), they keep uploading as textures instead of photos, and the ad won't take them as textures. How can I change this?

As far as I know, anything you upload will always be a texture not a snapshot. I think the only way to get a snapshot is to save it inworld straight away. I didn't think there was any difference in the way SL handled them though, I can't see why the ad board would even recognise the difference. Are you sure it's not the size or file type of the image that is stopping it being accepted, or something like that?

If it really will only accept snapshots and not textures, I'd have a word with the board owner. It seems a bit unfair if it's an ad, to not allow people to put up a nicely finished texture.

What is the message you get when trying to put the textures in the ad board? The popular ad boards often require a naming convention, such as yournamePIC.

You also often need to hold the ctrl key whilst dragging the texture to the ad board.

Nope, I wasted a lot of $L that I didn't have by uploading the pic in every file format possible -- every time it came in as a texture and the board wouldn't take any of them.

Spending money you don't have is never good -_- .

Yeah only inworld snapshots are defined as "snapshots"

I'd speak to the owner of the board. When you upload a picture it always uploads as a texture.

check the permissions on the texture.

Nevermind, figured it out. I have everything checked, so it's full perm, but the board still isn't taking it.

What do you mean by the board isn't taking it? Do you get an error message?

No, it's supposed to display right away when you're done loading, but won't.

I IM'd the owner, I'm too frustrated to keep trying right now. LOL

Finally got it working! I think maybe there was just really bad lag in that area and once people left, it cleared up and went through.

ya a lot of people have trouble with those adds..
the pics have to be named a certain way..most times like this
CekaCianciPIC or Ceka CianciPIC

then the image needs to be copy mod transfer
and most times it is best to clear the add
then click load then drop in your note card then i believe to drop the image it is holding ctrl down while you drop the image in the add..
all within the time limit which is most times 60 seconds..then click ready and
wait to see the pic rez and test for the note card by clicking the add..

it's a lot for someone new to those things..
