Has this happened to anyone else?
I closed out of SL for the night and the music kept playing that was streaming from the club I was at. I waited a few minutes and it never stopped. I eventually went into task manager to found 2 processes for Second Life. I think one was from earlier today and the other one was the one I just left and was listening to the music. Or maybe SL opens 2 seperate processes. In any case, once I killed the processes, the music stopped. Is this a common problem? Does SL hate to die? It just sits in the background eating CPU time and possibly even bandwidth until you root it out.

I have the music play for another minute or two, but that is all - just figured it had to do with pre-loading.

That's happened to me as well. Just one of those quirks which makes SL so special.

Maybe it's just the blurring of the grey area between SL and RL... your addiction is at the stage where you can't tell the difference between the two anymore?

Turn off you music player and then exit SL. I do, when I remember. I also find smoother teleporting if I turn off the music first and then teleport.

That sometimes happens to me. I stop the music by clicking on the SL icon to open the login page again, then quitting it when it loads. Only works if you don't have multiple logins enabled, I think.

From: Rhonda Huntress Is this a common problem? Yes, it's a bug. http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-9577 (the real problem) http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-9792 (the audio symptom)

From: Ee Maculate Yeah yeah... and I guess you can "stop anytime you want"? That's IT! I thought I could stop any time I wanted. Just push <Ctrl Q> and I was fine. Apparently I was wrong. I am addicted and I can not quit SL. There might be a 12 step program for recovery but double-clicking the little hand icon on my desktop is just a single, easy step. No, wait. The problem only happens when I try to quit SL. If I left it on all the time, there would not be a problem. Oh sure, the dishes would pileup and the clothes would never get washed but I can live on pizza in the nude. This could work. I will never have the problem of SL left lost and abandoned in the task manager process list again. It is to harsh a fate for anyone to suffer anyway. Or maybe I'll just try and remember to close the media stream before logging out. Thanks for the help. I just wanted to be sure it was a common problem and not something specific to my setup.

Thanks for posting the Jira, Viktoria. I've been seeing (or rather hearing) this problem for quite some time.
