Hi folks,
I've got a real brain teaser and it's got me stuck, so I'm hoping you might be able to help me out.
I've got a plot of mainland and have it set to object creation and object entry for group members only.
Every time I log in recently there are prims being used up on the land by someone who's not in the group and not me. In 'About Land' they show up in the 'Owned by Others' category.
I've done a thorough search of the plot, on the ground and in the sky, with highlight transparent on, and can't find a darn thing.
Of course I can Return the objects and do whenever I'm there. But it's really bugging me that I can't work out what/where they are and how they're getting on my land. I've returned them a few times now so if they were from my neighbours by accident I'm sure they would have realised their mistake by now and stopped putting down whatever it is that's doing this.
I've tried using the 'show' button in the About Land window but it doesn't seem to do anything.
If anyone wants to take a look I'm on the Melungste sim at 49,190,103. Look up Pecha Kucha Designs in Search and that'll take you there too.
It's not really an issue as no one else uses the prim space here except for me, just a real brain teaser!
Thanks in advance, Min

Setting no entry on group owned land doesn't prevent object entry. It's a bug that's known about, but isn't a priority to fix.

Aye, and I've had that before. Usually a vehicle getting driven on and someone crashing and leaving it behind. This time though I just can't find the little blighters and that's what's bugging me. They seem to be objects made up of 19 prims as the number used up so far has been divisible by 19.

I annoyed the hell out of a neighbour today (which meant I then met him and therefore now I have a new friend of course, lol) when a scripted lizard went off walkies immediately. I didn't worry when it headed off until I realised it had no concept of parcel boundaries ... assumed it would go offworld but no it was in his premises which had the land options set to no object entry.
I believe that it can also be ridden so maybe the vehicle aspect is the factor?

I've 'lost' things on other people's land before, and after searching in vain (no blue dot), left the item there (a necklace, a dog, etc), hoping to eventually get them back. Of course, if it's the same item each time that you're finding, it certainly is a teaser...

that used to happen to me all the time when i owned in Shark. i could never find the stuff, but it was always from the same person.
i finally checked the guys' profile and found that he was a group member of the land next door... and i'm pretty sure it was just prim particles or something like that that found their way onto my land while he was playing warrior or something (in the sandbox right next door). i'm sure they were up in the sky, but even flying to 1000m i could never see them...

What happened to me with something similar is a neighbor had some rezzing butterflies that were prims and flying over to my land using up all my prim allotment. For some strange reason, they would not delete on their own.

It could be a vehicle up that high. --Hugsy

I think one of my hoverbob prototypes might still be buried 1000 metres undergound in a nearby sim! I lost control of it on a test flight and that's where it ended up. Miraculously (and this counts as a true miracle!) I walked away without a scratch but I was disorientated and haven't a clue where to go looking for the wreckage!

Thanks in advance, Min Try using the "refresh list" button (in about land/objects) to find out exactly who is leaving prims on your land - if it is a persistent offender you can then do something about it.

I had this same thing; it drove me nuts until I realized that it started the day I put up the money tree, which is obviously owned by me. I'm assuming it's because the tree is a temp rezzer? The number changes randomly every day and when I click "show objects" nothing ever shows up and I've scoured the property up and down and below the land as well.

Simple solution:
Refresh List.
If no names other than yours and group members come up, then what is happening is that the prims got created without the group tag on.
If on group land, and you create a prim without the group tag for that land on, then the system sees that prim as NOT belonging to the group, nor the owner (On group land, the "owner" is only defined by deeded objects).
Likely the prims are yours or yoru groups and simply not being coutned right due to the way the group tagging system works (or doesn't work, depending on your PoV).

Min - Either search is borked again or there is something strange going on with the group (SG Cyborgs Update) that your land is set to. I tried searching for that group and it doesn't show up!
I've taken a look and there are no prims on your land at the moment that are owned by others. They are all yours or the groups.

Hiya folks, thanks for your answers! I just tried the Refresh List and that did the trick. Wow, a whole year in SL and I hadn't even seen that button before let alone press it. The answer to this puzzle is that the prims belong to a neighbour who's just moved in. I've already had a chat to him as his original build hung over my land quite a bit and he changed it straight away, so he's a decent chap. I've sent him an IM to see if we can work out where these prims are coming from. They were back today and another visual hunt couldn't find them. I'm sure they're from a rezzer or something similar. Hopefully his Lost and Found should hopefully tell us exactly what they are. Thank yoo Forum gurus!
