downside of creating & imagination

I have all these great ideas but somethings I don't have resources, knowledge or finicial situation to do create them or make them worth spending on.
I have this ideal for interactive virtual browswer like webpage that is like a profile, blog but much more.
I have no clue how to do it or if it would be worth doing it.
It would look bit like the image in my image below of FD's life with need bars, different interactive sections, you could change and update it depending on what you're using it for.
You could make little mini photo films of whatever adventure or screen shoots you uploaded to it.
You could have little blurbs about your SL friends and happenings. Favorite products, new designs, etc.
Issue is no clue how to do this or afford to do this or even if someone would even use something like this.
This is a example of one the downsides I find when I am creating and my imagination.
Often the projects are way too advance, way too expensive just for to create for fun.
So this get down to my question what is the downside for you in SL when it comes to creating & your imagination? And how do you deal with it?

Prims! I build, use up all my prims, well get 3/4 of the build done, link it, take to inventory, start rebuilding something else.

Oh and time, I want 4 RL days in one in reality too!

Oh I forgot to mention I had this other idea or thing I was discussing in my SL blog bit back ago.
And well known very large ompany that I won't name that exist in SL put out commerical only seen it once in Seattle. It was spin off almost of this thing I was talking about.
I have no proof....they changed it enough so I can't prove anything. Nor do I have means to sue, etc.
But this is also another downside of want to be creativing, imaginative and sharing things publicly be it in SL, or other wise.

Yeah that gets annoying I remember that when I had tiny lot.
I still experience that with 2000 prims.

it seems to me that theres lack of protection for people who just want to build interesting things and make things look good......

and insufficient materials to do it to...when it comes to grandiose schemes of building and bringing ones imagination to life lindens is very definately a playground for the rich .

It does seem to be very geared sometimes to people with lot of disposable income and their is some who give the impression only the extremely wealthy to middle class can or should be here.

Thats my dilema as well.

I'd love to have my own lil sim but lack $$$ to just toss into something like that.

YET- if I had the $$ to throw into it, I'd probably be working a RL job that wouldnt allow me much time to do it.

I have gandiose expectations too and they almost always get crushed. I think it's like that in real life. I've heard if you're an artist you do well to get 60% as good as your original vision because you don't learn to factor in the limitations of the medium -- at least until you're a master of it. But other people don't understand your disappointment. They can't tell what you originally envisioned.

I've complained in other posts about the brutal disappointment when I teleported home one day to the skybox I had been working on for months. While out shopping I had slid my object detail settings way down in my preferences to avoid lag in the stores. I found the skybox with spiral staircases partly sticking out of the exterior walls, walls not lining up any more, and other problems. It only worked well at the higher detail settings because I was using some strange angles and curves I guess.

But I continue on. My skybox really does look good at the higher settings. My computer is marginal for this platform, but it still works at these settings, so some visitors might see the place as I do. In the end, it's the satisfaction of knowing I've created something that looks very nice at least sometimes. -- KC

Yep soo many good builds have been deleted, because people wouldn't donate and the excessivly high tier needed paying :/

LL and Second Life probably only exists in the form it does today because of the big spenders.

Luckily I have good friend with ablities, intelligence and resources that I don't have but even sometimes I find the things I want to create or envision face major limitations. Like the transparency glitch or small issues I have making transparent textures.
Now I run into new ones since I have started to draw on clothing templates that I don't know how to fix. But I know if experiment, problem solve long enough I can figure out why my pockets and seams look really funny.
I was talking to friend about this idea for interactive profile viewer and she said its possible to do through HUD viewer but it only work within our Sim.
That is is possible to have screen you can interact with here but if I want it to play choose your adventure games within SL that not going to be possible with SL.
We were talking and I said "Well I am not sure what use a gadget that would have interactive need bar, personal display of projects, etc like my FD"s Life button window would have but just curious if it was possible or be useful to anyone else..."
She answered. "Well for creation sake its worth it, just to be creative."
Things were hard when I had only tiny L shaped 1536m2 lot when I started out but I got to also do lot of great prim exploring back then too and it was all constant in changing.
With bigger lots and bigger projects its not always as easy to tear down everything and undo it, especially if it becomes group land and other people are living there and using it too.

Time is the biggest issue for me.
With a more-than-full-time job, I really have trouble fitting in even a tenth of what I want to create.
And yet new ideas keep coming and coming, and they scream to be released.

Sending hugs thought about you wonder how you are.
I came up with some new fabrics but ran into some layering problems or sending them your way and seeing what you could come up with for yourself...thought about bugging you but haven't seen you around much figure you're busy making chocolate or something.

Problem solving is what always kills me in SL. I spend my RL days solving problems, which frequently leaves me not enough functional brain cells left to solve critical design issues. Much of this is because I like working with curves when building and curves are just not easy in SL - which is why 90% of the objects are made with squares.....

Oh I feel your pain.

I am soooo frustrated because I got into SL for the creative element. I anticipated it would cost something.....but not nearly what it's turned out to cost. I have plenty of time.....but of course, because of my situation....I cannot justify the kind of $$$ it would take for me to fully realize my ideas....... and I have good ones!!
It's really such a universal problem...those with the money often have little time.....and those with the time, usually have little money. So....SL in effect, caters to an elite few that have a both time and money to plant the seeds of their imagination in SL. The rest of us are left flailing and drooling and banging our heads on keyboards in frustration.

But...in fairness... I was talking to the sim owner where I have land.....and she sort of indicated that A. they have empty islands they might let me work on if they like my ideas....or B. I could become a partner, again, if they like my ideas. Of course, me being the stubborn independent sort that I am.... I WANT MY OWN SIM. LOL

One's dreams usually exceed's one's grasp. Rare is the individual who can accomplish all that he can dream. However, if you keep working at it, you can greatly increase your grasp.

I am still along way from being an adept scripter, set my target at learning at least one new thing each time I try it, and I am now able to do many things with scripts that were a complete mystery to me when I started. I started my business small, invented little money, but lots of time, making it pay for it self as it grew, plowing any income back into the business, now 32 months later it is self sustaining, pays my tier on half a sim of mainland and producing a decent profit.

And I still learn how to do something new each day.

I was recently day dreaming what I do with endless sims so I could really could build a virtual world of my own.
But the practicalness of spending that much money if I had it to spare just wouldn't be reasonable.
I would need over 35000 sims for mountain range, ocean, land, etc. which would be very expensive dream but the fantasy of drawing out the map is fun.
Sometimes the dream is better and cheaper then the reality.
