Private BDSM community

Hello everyone,
i hope you can help me, I own land on a private sim and my land is used for my family which a BDSM community, do i have to flag the land as adult or can it stay as mature.

If the sim as a whole is not set to "restricted to group only" access, I'd definitely activate the adult flag, or figure out some way to restrict access if not all members are verified.

From what I understand - only if it is public and/or advertised and falls under the category of adult.

People can do what they want in the privacy of their homes, on mature or adult land, within the usual TOS.

If you don't hold public events there, you are supposedly OK.

BUT:

If you're renting on a private sim, it's the estate owner's call. They may decide to play it safe and either ask you to clean up your act, move elsewhere, or flag the entire estate as Adult...in which case you must be account verified in order to access your own parcel.

You cannot flag a part of an estate region as Adult. It must be done at the Region level.

Yes - some people form 'groups' they call families, which consist of Dominants and submissives. Some are connected as sexual pairs, and some under platonic 'protection' of the Dominant/s.

As someone who is in D/s, BDSM .... I laughed so hard that my husband had to ask what was wrong with me. LMAO

If the parcel is not advertized, participation in the group/community is invitation only, and the BDSM activities are not open to anyone who walks by, you should be fine, as long as it is indoors and not visible from the outside.

If the sim itself is "Advertized" (by the sim owner advertizing other parcels in the same sim as for sale or rent), and your parcel is part of the same land group that is advertizing rentals in the sim, that might run afoul of the new regs. I think... In that case, I think the sim would have to rate as Adult, or you'd need to move. Or at least make sure your parcel is owned by YOUR non-advertizing land group.

Best bet is to have the sim not be public access, and not be advertized as a public sex spot. If only the residents renting in that sim can go there, then a mature rating is sufficient.

Case in point. I live on a private island, in a residential community, seperate geographicly from any other sims. There are a small number of land groups (generally one per parcel owner) that allow access to the sim, and all are invitation-only groups for residents of one parcel and invited guests of those residents. Maybe 200 souls, tops, have access to the sim. When the Adult Content restrictions first came up, I asked specificly if our sim's access controls, with the sim in no way open to the public, and the sim having no advertizing pointing to it, would be sufficient, should some of our residents wish to partake of "Adult" activities in the privacy of their own parcel's homes. The answer that I got from a Linden was that in such a case, we would not need to rate the sim as Adult.

I also asked "Well, what if I have a business office in one part of my parcel for my G-rated terraforming and sim building business on the ground floor of my home, and in a private part of my home, deep down in the basement, on the same parcel and in the same structure, I have a non-public, sexually themed "Playroom" for my SL household's use. The business is not sex related, and does not offer access to the sexually-themed playroom. Could the business office safely be advertized? The answer was "Yes, as long as the sexually themed area was not part of what the advertized business was offering, that is a private area seperate from the advertized non-Adult content, and is OK on Mature."

Not that "common sense" has much to do with their definitions, but the "Common Sense" guideline appears to be that if it is advertized using Adult Keywords, and/or offers to the public access to Adult Content from an advertized space, rate it Adult. But a shop or other advertized non-adult space could be Mature, while an "Adult" private area was elsewhere in the same parcel, and that is OK. Just like having your RL apartment (and bedroom) over your bookstore does not mean people buying your books automatically get invited upstairs to your bedroom.
