Losing focus on avatar textures

Okay, finally posting a question that's been bugging me for ages :)

I have this weird issue where my skin and clothes go 'out of focus' and all fuzzy. A rebake fixes the problem for a few seconds and then I go out of focus again.

It's like I can't hold onto a clear rezzed version of the textures on my avatar, they flicker in and out of focus. And it's not just on my screen. When I see myself go fuzzy everyone else sees it too.

This doesn't happen with objects or attached prims. Once those have rezzed they stay rezzed. It's only the textures on my avatar's body.

My fingers are tired from rebaking every 30 seconds! Anyone know what's causing this and if it can be fixed?

Ta in advance

It happens often to me I go no clue why I figure it's cause of my isp and I am poor and unable to upgrade my computer. video card or something has changed on LL server side....but who knows.
At the laggest places I can be there for hours and everyone is gray and nothing texture related as far avatar loads, but prims things load or most of it does.
Yet any time I move I blurr in same way but sometimes this happens when I am all alone trying on new outfit or moving to new location.

Min, you may be seeing a normal phenomenon.

When you put on a new skin, or new clothes even, SL rebakes your textures, so your avatar will load faster. As it does so, your textures will go all fuzzy at least once (usually twice, if I recall correctly). Just let it be for a few minutes, and all should be well.

Tthe extra rebaking isn't helping you. Each time you do that, you have to download all your individual clothing etc. textures, upload the baked versions back to the sim, then download those baked versions again. That's two extra blurry moments for you, one extra for everyone else.

Check your graphics settings, the hardware stuff under the custom settings. See if you can boost the texture memory there, so the viewer doesn't need to be so aggressive about picking favorites that don't include you.

I've had this issue in the past as well......but from what I understand about how textures are baked onto the avatars....it is your graphics card that bakes those textures and translates that to SL....which is why your friends see it happening too. (this is similar to what is happening with the 177 nVidia drivers right now.....a texture issue is causing layers not to bake properly, and everyone can see the glitch, not just the user with the 177 drivers)

Anyway..... it happened to me for some time a while back.....then it stopped. It's tough to say without knowing more about what system you're using, whether it's just an SL bug or your graphics card struggling. There might be things you can adjust with your settings that might help....but I'm not sure.....

anyone???

The problem is that after a long while it's still doing it. It doesn't settle down.

Good advice Viktoria. I kinda knew this but I just hate standing around all blurry :) I'll try and hold off from rebaking.

I did this the other day and it hasn't made any difference.

I'm coming to the conclusion it's my set-up as it's not the best in the world. I'm on a MAC OS X, 2.16 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 2 GB Memory, with an ATI Radeon X1600 graphics card. Although historically it hasn't been a big issue it seems to be worse in the last few weeks. Perhaps since I downloaded the latest viewer although I can't say for certain.

Thanks for everyone's comments so far :)
