Hello - My name is Kat and I just joined SL. I have a question - I have chosen to be a small avatar. My height is under 10 and my avatar is slim. I am a fairy. I am just wondering about where to find clothes that fit me. All the clothes places I have gone to, the items are way too big and cannot be properly modified to fit. My RL sister is in SL and she has even helped me. The regular size swimwear, etc. cannot be modified to fit. So, she told me to come here and ask. Where do I find small avatar clothes for adults (not kid clothes)? Thanks, Kat

Clothes are one size fits all. Prim attachments might be a problem though.

Congratulations and shame on you! You are a bit of a slut.

Hi there I would also try typing into search under Classifieds the words - fairy/fae/elven, etc. I've seen a lot of shops when I've been in especially Medieval rp sims that have clothes especially for fairies. Not necessarily "Western Wear" - but the type clothes a rp fairy would wear.

From: Ann Launay Clothes are one size fits all. Prim attachments might be a problem though. They don't fit me...I bought a bikini and the top is way below my boobs...it looks like I am wearing a shirt for a giant. LOL Are prim attachments the ones with a box? Those have been good cause they have adjusted so far.

All of my height affecting sliders are on 0. By script I'm 3'11", by prim I'm 4'3". I have almost never bought clothing meant for kids. As long as it's on the clothing texture layers, it will fit, but you need to be cautious of baked in shadows and pre-shaped cloth curves, especially around the breasts (or lack of). (^_^)
For prim attachments, it's a gamble. Prim attachments are just that.. Built objects that you attach to points on your body. It doesn't matter if they came from a box or not, they're just items that don't show up in the "Appearance" menu and are edited using the "Build" menus instead. (^_^)
I have found many shoes and skirts that are moddable usually already have a part with a size dimension of 0.010 making it impossible to properly downsize. Even with some of the few kid's clothes I have I've noticed that I'm a bit too small for the possible adjustments. (=_=)y

From: Katelicious Xue They don't fit me...I bought a bikini and the top is way below my boobs...it looks like I am wearing a shirt for a giant. I haven't run into texture clothes (the ones with various clothing item icons next to them) that don't "fit", but I have seen cases where certain tops are cut too low to work with certain skins and don't quite cover the nipples. That could be the kind of thing you're running into, especially since your shape is likely proportioned differently. Have you tried making your own texture clothes in the appearance menu? They aren't as detailed and slick as professionally drawn clothes - but they might give you an idea where the fitting issues are happening, and what to look for in purchased clothes. From: Katelicious Xue Are prim attachments the ones with a box? Prim attachments have a box icon next to them in your inventory, as opposed to a clothing or body icon.

In Second Life I have 7th percnetile slider height and by prim I'm 144cm or 4'8" and I'm 34th percentile weight. I've been reading this forum and avoiding storebought prim clothes because I'm difficult to fit. I'm also an adult human.
I upload my own textures and create my own texture clothes. Look for a Second Life shirt tutorial. This will get you started. Home made texture clothes are often every bit as good if not better than store bought. There seems to be a shortage of nice blouses that are NOT t-shirts and when it comes to swimwear, I seldom see tankinis with criss cross straps in the back or long line two piece bathingsuits. Also most winter coats look way too tight and skimpy. My avi has a down jacket made with textures that is appropriately puffy as a down jacket should be.
If you can get a reasonably priced box or two of sculptie prims, you can make prim clothes for yourself too. I've been able to make two one piece bathing suits. I also cut up a statue to make a costume and used the prims to make another costume.
Pants are harder. Skirts are easy and fun. It is nice to have longish skirts or sarongs that are not huge ball gowns. Leave me an IM in world and I'll tip you off to some good fabric sites for textures.

Home made texture clothes are often every bit as good if not better than store bought. I'm looking forward to doing this - signed up for a very detailed course in GIMP and will enjoy making a lot of my own clothing/jewelry/accessories soon From: Iyoba Tarantal Also most winter coats look way too tight and skimpy. Last SL Winter, I was so excited when I found a gorgeous fox coat with a lovely prim collar, cuffs, etc. It had such a luxurious look. I love these coat looks and don't have a chance to wear them here in FL. When I happily modeled it for my Partner, his comment was - "It's bulky and doesn't show your figure off well." /me is still grumbling over that
