Welcome to the forums! :)

The support section of this web site has some good info. Click the Support link at the top of the page or go to:

http://secondlife.com/support/

From there, click the "Helpful tips and tricks to help you navigate through Second Life." link.

Then click "FAQs and Videos" on the left to expand that tree item.

Then click "Videos".

Then click "How to change your appearance - Video Tutorial".

The video should get you started.

There's, uh, probably a lot of things you didn't know about lindens. Another, another interesting, uh, lindenism, uh, there are only three jobs available to a linden. The first is making shoes at night while, you know, while the old cobbler sleeps. You can bake cookies in a tree. But the third job, some call it, uh, "the show" or "the big dance," it's the profession that every linden aspires to.

Welcome, Ran :)

I don't know whether you're male or female (sorry, it's not obvious from the name!) but there are some great resident-run blogs out there that will help you, as well as the official Linden Lab pages. Some of them focus on looking good for free, some of them have newbie guides, and I've bookmarked a few to pass onto newbies whenever I find one in need of help *g*

Try the following:

- Natalia Zelmanov has a lot of useful info for newbies (and older residents). Try her 'Getting Started in SL Guide' page.

- The Fabulously Free blog focuses on finding free items inworld. Mainly girls' stuff, but sometimes has items for the guys, too. They also have a store inworld that's packed with freebies.

- Guys only! I found this blog the other day, and they're finding some really useful things for the guys in SL.

- Freebies and newbie guides. Mar's been doing a 'Fast track guide to non-newbieness' series for both sexes. It's indexed on the "Newbie? Start Here" page.

- Again, mainly female stuff, but they also pinpoint nice items for the guys.

Hope some of those help!

Yes, this is something you should have learned in Orientation. You can go to Orientation Island Public too, and go through the old tutorials.
