New Search Question--Inbound links?

Hi I want to be ready for the New Search.

I have updated a lot of my major products with descriptions so I understand that and actully like the idea.

In reading the documentation on Linden's blog, they talk about traffic being used
as a search variable---but this does not sound like the old traffic system which most
of us dislike so much (but I could be wrong *sighs)) The new search will use Inbound links. As I thought about it I don't know what an Inbound link is!

Can someone enlighten me? What will generate an inbound link?

Thanks in advance. Lion

<random guess>
One of Google's variables in determing ranking is the amount of sites that link to a given site (aka "inbound links";) and since Google's Search Appliance is powering the whole thing LL could have converted that concept into SL by using Picks as "inbound links" for instance (landmarks could work too).

Here's part of the answer:
From: Jeska Linden from a blog post a while back

Inbound links are created by references in top picks, classifieds, landmarks, parcels and groups.

What does

mean?

"Top picks" I take it means the Picks tab in your profile. There's no word "Top" there. Does that use only the url associated with a pick or does it include links, such as slurls, in the text of the pick description?

Similarly for groups - what part of group information holds inbound links? Land parcels that the groups own? Is the member list a set of inbound links to the members? Does it check for slurls in the group charter?

Jeska's meaning in the quoted passage is not clear to me.
