Has anybody tried it yet? I'm just about to. They say it's cleaned up the jpeg conversion muck from sculpties. It would be real nice if flat surfaces and sharp edges didn't have flaps, ripples and tears anymore. I'm curious how the RC viewer works for everybody else. Well, I'm off to test it. Let me know how it goes for you.

I'm testing it right now, haven't noticed a difference yet though.

I tried it. Sculpties looked worse to me. Nothing else seemed any better or worse.

-Atashi yeah, its got the new level of detail in it... (32, 16, 16, 9 to 32, 16, 9, 5) loading it now... its going to make some sculpties that make huge use of the geometry in one prim look worse. I expect the more sensible made ones will be ok. on the other hand, it also has the jpeg compression removed on uploading new ones, so maybe I can reduce some of my texture sizes finally

ouch. You really have to put the object detail sliders in preferences to full max for sculpties to look ok in a 20x20 room.

Well this is the first time using a voice enabled viewer and not liking it at all so far.
Where is the Character submenu now to deselect the AFK test and rebake textures?
Where are the debug submenus?
Communications window is awkward and unwieldy. Easy to miss Near Me chat while in IMs too.
Good thing it's a candidate viewer. Going back to old viewer shortly I think.

Control alt D - debug has to be reenabled. Everything is at defaults.
Btw... the communicate window - same as in old voice viewer... that's not changed at all, sadly.

From: Hypatia Callisto Control alt D - debug has to be reenabled. Everything is at defaults. ... I noticed that too. That was a hassle. As far as sculpties go, I didn't see much change. Maybe they're a little smoother but it's really hard to tell if they're actually smoother, or if it's just my eyes are going bad from staring at prims all night. Does anybody know if the jpeg *fix* was supposed to fix existing sculpties, or only new ones uploaded to SL? And, if it's only new ones uploaded while in the RC viewer, will they look good when rezzed in the official viewer? Besides that, nothing else seemed to have changed between the official viewer and the RC viewer, *EXCEPT* after editing for about an hour, I lost the green edit handle for positioning. *That* was a major hassle; trying to guess where the handle should be.

The debug settings are reset because this installation is along side the normal viewer.
The Release Candidate is working fine for me.

K. PS: we've discovered an annoying bug with the lossless image uploader - it only seems to work for images at 128x128. trying to fix this ASAP.

just installed and tried it but after setting all options the same as my normal viewer, the lag has increased, 1-2 minutes to login compared to instantly with the normal viewer i really like some of tthose bug fixes but not at the cost of very low fps so back on normal
