On odd occasions Sl temporarily freezes as my harddrive becomes mega active. I have no other applications running other than SL and this problem has only started about two weeks ago. Any ideas what causes this?

If you have any anti-virus proggies, make sure that you manually exclude SL's cache folder from getting scanned.

I have had this problem since i downloaded the latest update. The freeze can last from 15 seconds to about 1 minute. At the same time the old bug of crashing when emptying my trash folder has returned. Both very annoying.

This was an issue with the First Look viewer also. If you end the SLvoice.exe in Task Manager, the freezing of the client doesn't occur; but, you won't have any voice either.

I've got this exact same issue - I managed to minimize the lag, but McAfee is a B---- to work with. I've been trying to figure out how to do this - I swear, I am just giving up on McAfee and going with a more user friendly Anti-virus program.

You should do that- Norton is also one of the worst culprits...

I've had this problem consistantly since the last update and I am still using the last prevoice client. As to anti-virus, I switched to MS One Care when I got so fed up with Norton's that even being without anti-virus seemed preferable and have found it to be the best anti-virus/anti-spyware program I've ever used. Zero issues with either viruses or spyware and I do run other utilites to check on a regular basis and it seems to have little if any impact on performance. Its kind of surprising to find something from MS that works well.

I have been having this major freeze up when I scan my camera to fast. It will do the 30 second to a minute freeze. Most of the time it will come back on it's own, but several times it has required a log out.

For me, it *seems* like that happens when adjusting "level of detail" (LOD) on prims. Once the freeze ends, I notice prims around me show more or less detail than before. It makes me afraid to move most of the time.

Im getting the exact same thing, its nothing to do with virus scans of cache or anything else as no other settings have changed. I think its been since the last wednsdays shut down that its happening. Maybe next wednsdays shutdown will sort it.

my computer is decent and I have experienced these freezes before about a year ago during a very bad update with SL.

I am upset that SL is not admitting this is a problem. ITS NOT MY COMPUTER SL!!!!!!

MAN I am so frustrated with this freezing tonight. ALWAYS at the most inopportune times.
