I was "Logged out by an administrator" while at a popular new user's place today, answering, to the best of my ability to do rapidly, a question of the new age verification policy, a question which struck me as a bit serious to be asking in the party like atmosphere the place presented. I was doing a dance animation produced by a dance controller at the place. I wasn't cussing, shooting people, indecently dressed, spamming, or in any way doing anything even vaguely disruptive, disturbing, against any sort of rules, be they Linden Lab rules or rules set by the property owner. The coordinator at the place said they have no idea what the problem was. The person that asked the question about the age verification policy said they thought I was acting suspicious, apparently because I was jumping on the bar, but that just shows they don't know me at all. I have jumped on every surface in the place. I like to jump around instead of standing still. My answer to the question about age verification included the passage in my signature about Mark Foley, and then I said that minors can't be kept out of SL except by having someone actually at the computers logging in to SL. So my answer included a word, see the signature, that might be on some sort of auto-censoring system.

The only unusual thing I had done today was to log in under my alts, just to see if they are still working, in response to a post that mentioned that people were trying to log in as their alt accounts and finding their accounts were closed. The alt accounts all functioned normally.

Anyone else having any similar sort of experience or any light to shed on this?

i did awhile back i was told

"put the weapons down NOW"

and a couple of other things and then ported by a linden only trouble was i didn't have a weapon, was in a shopping mall farting with a bartender sampling the "drinks" lol and mindng my own business alone and it was strange.... I sent a chat to the linden that did it but got no reply I chalked it up to an odd experience.

I have no idea why this happens I thought maybe they mixed my name up but i tried any combination of could think of and could not find a close match to my avatar name and decided it was "crossed wires" or something

I also emailed support and asked them why they were porting me for no reason and accusing me of having a weapon and other things when i think the only one i have is a bow and arrow freebie in my inventory that I forgot to delete.. (never got a reply to that either)

Sounds like we have an overzealous Linden among us...or one that is careless.

this is starting to sound like orkut jail, back in the day. And Google never could get it working right.

make enough abuse reports to send someone's account to temporary suspension.

... wonders ...

Sounds to me as if a Linden isn't doing any research before acting. This is not a good habbit for a linden to get into. Not only will it ruin LL's name even more then it is, but it ruins their personal popularity, and could get them fired.

Anyway This hasn't happened to me yet, and probably won't since i barely log in anymore due to feeling useless here now. If it does happen to me, i will post it here as a response, and will do what my friend did by contacting the head guy! ;p

Yiffy, why don't you sign up as a teacher in one of the schools? You love to help and I have a feeling you might be good at it.

I've thought about it but i have a social problem that freezes me up around large crowds even if they are pixels hehe. I try to claim that i don't know how to teach, but truthfully that stands in my way.

LOL Yiffy, I can relate to that! I used to be a motorcycle instructor:
One on one was great. Two were fine. Three were OK. Four .. manageable ...

... Five .... The Twillight Zone!!

phew, i'm not alone then. i've bottled out of asking questions at the town hall before now because pathfinder wanted me to stand on a box in front of the audience. would i have a problem addressing 40+ people in an IRC room? not at all.

Something I think must be a bit disconcerting for teachers is I was a student in a lecture hall and during the class loads of avatars around me their heads started slumping onto their chests looking like they were falling asleep from boredom or something (away, of course). I suppose it's because they were just looking at their screens and not moving, but it looked horribly like falling asleep in class :)

Hey SuezanneC :)

From the way you were describing the bar & dance animator, I'm assuming you were at the Shelter. The Isabel sim has been having chronic issues for months, and while getting the random "You have been logged out by an administrator" message is rare, its not completely uncommon.

Usually I get it when the sim is really taxed - it appears to not actually be a Linden logging you out, but getting disconnected somehow from the sim that causes that message - at least in Isabel. I've also seen it happen when crossing the border between Isabel & Wingo.

Hope this helps - and thanks for coming by and helping out answering questions. It gets pretty chaotic there sometimes, and the more people that have the patience to answer random new resident questions, the better! :)
