Seems like the power is out again - Xstreet is down like it was yesterday. --sigh-- And of course, it's been down for almost an hour with no notice from LL on http://status.secondlifegrid.net/
Back in the day, Xstreet was always there. Someone monitored it like a hawk - even to the point of shutting down sales every time there was a hint of failed deliveries or any other SL problem.
Now they just wait until 100 reports come in and some flashing light wakes up a Linden who says, "Woah - 100 things came in just now. I guess I should probably check those when I get back from the bathroom."
I really want to update my stuff (not to mention see if something I posted two days ago and has had quite a few sales has 1) got it's "Also Purchased" links up (last night - 48 hours after first sale, it hadn't) 2) see if the ratings are up (i know there's at least one because one of my customers wrote me in world about how cool it was and the 5 stars they gave it - that was 24 hours ago and as of last night it wasn't there) and 3) See if it has touched the popular items list yet - but of course, none of that is getting updated properly anymore either.
Nice job. Bravo!

I dunno. I've managed many web sites and several servers over the years. A good server host will have monitors running that will send e-mails and alerts all over the place the moment a host goes down. With the amount of money we pay Xstreet (though their little slice of every sale plus enhancements) there is absolutely no excuse for not having someone there monitoring it all 24/7.
-added- Xstreet USED to have people watching all the time for outages (both on the site and on the grid). So I guess firing those people was part of their "making shopping better" plan.
On a "real" web site, 1 hour is 2-3 times as long as it should take to FIX 90% of the problems that come down the line. 1 hour is NOT how long it should take to NOTICE the problems that come down the line. --another sigh--
