Perhaps I missed it but I'm surprised this wasn't announced in the official SL blog about the proposed change to modify the Xstreet login process so that you will use your Second Life avatar name and Second Life password to log into Xstreet. https://www.xstreetsl.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=100923 Won't affect me much but perhaps some of you?

That would be a welcome change. Maybe they then will be able to use the SL account L$ balances too, so it's not necessary to carry two different "bank" accounts. My login is the same on XStreet as in SL anyway. I'm in favor of the change. Jackie.

My login is the same on XStreet as in SL anyway. I'm in favor of the change. Jackie. It does look like the plan is to consolidate the two: " 4. This change is necessary in order for us to enable future progress such as consolidating Xstreet SL balances & Second Life balances so that transferring Linden Dollars via an ATM is no longer necessary." I like the change as well, but as they brought up, it might be an issue for some that have a different account name than their xstreet account. I don't even recall the ability of being able to have a different xstreet account name than the one associated with your SL av but I guess this is a potential issue for some brands. But ya .. the changes work for me both as a user of xstreet and having a crappy storefront. I'm still surprised though that they didn't seek more input than just within the xstreet forums ... well maybe not that surprised ...

The unified login was announced in the blog posts or forum posts about the merger.
They stopped placing new ATM's around this time, so the writing was on the wall about them at this point, they will be phased out and purchases will come direct from our dollar balances.

The unified login was announced as planned when they bought it. They also plan to have your in-world L$ balance directly available, without having to transfer funds to or from a special website fund to make L$ purchases or withdrawls.

Well yes, none of this was really any surprise and was mentioned in the merger, but it's the actual details of the implementation process I'm surprised isn't on one of the official sub-blogs, unless there is some xstreet/linden blog I haven't noticed.

Good point, it should be being announced on both sites, maybe they plan to email us again.

My spidey sense is tingling...I bet sales will increase for XStreet merchants when the accounts merge.

Jackie it is my understanding that the XStreetSL forums were compromised at some point in recent history, if you are using the same pass both places you might want to change it *unless you have since I think it was January*

I hope they tie xstreet into the SL search. A shopping tab perhaps. It would become the only way I shop in world.

Yes, this is wonderful news, as I am sure that it indicates that third-party shopping websites and other services will also be allowed access to the same APIs, which would aid all sorts of SL development.
Oh. Wait.
