rental peace of mind

hi I am renting a skybox soon. Can anyone tell me where I can get one of those 'list' things you can page up, that tells you who has visited skybox please? The landlord/Sim owner is reluctant to install much by the way of security or locking, as its an open rarely visited sim and the skybox rental is only a personal favour to me for a few months.......... However for my own peace of mind, I would like to be aware who has kinda popped in, if you know what i mean........skybox is at 500m. height, so I am unlikely to be hassled and I would only inform the landlord if the same person dropped in more than once...It's possible these devices are only available for property owners?

ok I have searched some freebie stores this arvo looking for this visitor counter script thing you guys have suggested for my skybox, but without success............has anyone got a freebie they can drop on me please? before my shoes wear out?

I'll go in world and drop the one I have on you. Then just make a prim of any size to put it into. (I use a tiny sphere and place it someplace discreet.) This one only has a certain range though, so I'd place it near the landing spot of your skybox.

I found several free visitor counter by searching XStreetSL. I can't remember which one I ended up using, but they all seem quite similar.

I'm going to have to take a look at the script at the link Amity listed and maybe make my own one of these days...

That would've been me Dog . The script I sent you, you can drop in any prim, even a bit of furniture if you are low on spare prims. Just reset the script and then say "help" without the quotes, it'll tell you what options are available.

hi thanks prawny and czari will have a go with them later.......i can put the script into a little coloured 1 prim and hide it on the site fine......one question if i may, script says -'object to change the greeting, change the object description and touch the object'. I don't understand that I'm afraid.

I'm not Czari or Prawny, but I believe what this means is - if the object is rezzed, right-click it and go into Edit mode. If there is a button that says More, click that to open the lower part of the menu. I can't remember what they are called, but there should be fields near the top of the lower menu to change the object's name, enter a brief description, and change the group the object is set to. Whatever you type into the name and description fields is what the counter will say when someone walks near enough to activate it.

So if you named it Dog's Security System, and in the description field put, Welcome to my home, when someone walked by they would see (in green object text):

Dog's Security System: Welcome to my home.

If the object is still in your inventory, you can right-click and select Properties to change the Name and Description fields - they will be at the top of the Properties box.

(That may be clear as mud... but I hope it helps!)

yeah thanks nic - i tried that and then visited skybox with an alt but got no welcome or clear off message......no matter.................will be checkin later to see if the device picked up the alts presence anyway.......thanks anyway

I think the script I sent in similar, but doesn't greet.
Thought that maybe as it's used for security it might be best to stay silent

You might need to reset the script for it to work... edit the prim you put it in and then edit the script from the contents tab. Once the script is open hit the reset button at the bottom. Hope this works.
