Haven´t being payed back the rest of my money

I have been renting a 1/4 of a sim at a price of 5000L$ a week ... And have been paying 6 months in advance...
I got a small discount for those 6 months i had to pay only 114000 L$....That i pay the day i bought the land.. Before Renting the sim i asked if "i could have a commercial adventure on the land" they answered me yes won´t be any problem , but not too many shops .....

Everything went fine until friday night they asked me to leave the land, as soon as possible have to refund all the tenants which was of course done , in the same night....

So I got a part of money refunded .

They told me that will have the rest of my money when i will clear the sim

It as been 4 days now and havent got any answer from them , and they have been setting the land to sell and.... still they havent payed the rest of my rent



is there anybody that could help ....

I mean there's nobody who can help you, unfortunately. Linden Labs (rightly) doesn't intervene in resident-to-resident disputes. The principle of caveat emptor is in full effect. If you have a lease agreement that was signed in the real world, or a notarized contract, you can take them to court. Other than that, an informal, essentially verbal deal on discounted rent for advance payment isn't a legally actionable contract in most jurisdictions.

Yes, it sucks, and it's too bad you got burned, but people really have to be careful who they deal with. There are no protections for renters on estate land, and there are a lot of people who despite their intentions, don't know how to run a business. They do it for fun, and when it quits being fun or profitable (or it's MORE profitable) they quit.

What she means is, unfortunately, there is no one that can help you get your money back. It is betwen you and the party you rented from. LL won't get involved in resident to resident disputes.

well thats bad due to money invested in SL since 2006 and i will have never thought that something like that will have happened ....

Yeah, there are unfortunately a lot of people...who might not be 'bad' per say, but they're flakes who don't have what it takes to run a business. That's why I skipped them and went straight to one of the big established estates when I needed land for my shopping center. I'm all for supporting the little guy in most things, but sometimes you can't trust the little guy and in estate parcel leasing, trust is all you have unless both parties are willing to take it into the real world and start FedExing contracts around.

You can try abuse reporting them, there should be a category for fraud.

Please don't add to your suffering by naming them here. LL does frown on that, given that it tends to lead to flame wars. If you need proof of why, I recommend going down to the archive section and look for General Discussions.

At this point, you have two options. Chalk this up as an expensive lesson learned or take it to court. Frankly, I'd chalk it up as an expensive lesson learned.

Most people who rent only pay two months in advance, not six, for this exact reason. Then if the deal falls through or is a scam, they aren't out a lot.

But as suggested, if you feel you must name names, go to a third party site. And don't forget to tell your friends IN SL about it. Word of mouth does a better job than a post in this forum, to be honest.

Find out if they rent out any other sims/plots. If they do then try and very politely contact their other residents, tell them your story and see if you cannot apply a bit of pressure through their existing customers if any are willing to help.

If they have sold up entirely and have no other busineses then i can think of no other alternatives that don't involve legal action, griefing or cyber terrorism.

this is why i don't believe in paying in advance..they have a certain power over you when they do..
if it ever does even out and people are forced to refund in these situations,there would be a lot more happier stories coming out of sl.
until then trust only yourself when it comes to your money..cause even your best friend in world can some day be your worst enemy.

So you would support someone naming your name with a one sided post? Something you may not ever see, but will smear your name to all that read it. The ban on naming names is in place for a very good reason.

Four whole days!?! My God!! What kind of sick human being goes for four whole days without logging into Second Life and maybe has other things to do in their life and thought a very short delay of four days wouldn't cause much harm!?

These people need to be stopped before they do more damage by slightly delaying a payment to someone.
