I want to make a Radio station (of my own, not actual radio stations) in Second Life soon. For the music, I will probably use a play list of music.

The first question I have: Is it legal to use Second Life as part of a name in-game? Like if I used SLMX as the radio station? If it is illegal, I have other names for the radio station.

Is it better to use a residential or community (store) lot?

Since Radio Stations won't bring in much money, I will also have a bar with dancing and stage shows. Would that be the best way to earn money on the land?

Also, my only thought would be to stream the radio station using voice. Is there a better way?

Typically, building is a better long term bet. Clubs are, well, a dime a dozen inworld, and you would have to do quite a bit of work to raise enough interest in one to get a following. This will require a lot of initial cash outlay.

Yes: using the audio stream in SL. Voice is not the best way to go about it as the only people then hearing your "station" will be the ones near you -- and they will then no get good sound, nor will they be able to use voice. Check the wiki for information on this.

Right, thank you! The second part was more of an afterthought after I asked residential or community. Community it is!

Yeah I get what you are saying. But I am going along the lines of what would go best with a radio station. It seems good to have a club, since both have music.
