I have no idea what this could be, since you eliminated the highlight transparent. If it looks kinda like an arrow, it might be the Update beacon showing when an object updates. Otherwise, I agree, go back to the non-RC viewer, since it seems to have a lot of visual problems. *mutters* I hate the fact that it 'flickers' every so often with the idiotic RC.

I had this same thing with the new viewer. Red or blue 'cone' like images emitting from scripted objects. I did everything I knew to do, all the tricks I have learned from here and nothing worked. I un-installed SL 1.19.4 Re-installed, downloaded Nicholaz and have not been back into the re-installed version since.

I have lots of trouble with the new viewer so I can't log it in to find where it is for you. The latest release works worse then the one before it. Not sure what was changed but for the first time a viewer crashes on me often. I am holding out for the next release to try again.

From: Macphisto Angelus There is a setting you uncheck called "show updates". I have lots of trouble with the new viewer so I can't log it in to find where it is for you. It's ctrl-alt-shift-u to enable/disable Show Updates. That or check under the Advanced (or Client, on older viewers) menu, which you can enable via ctrl-alt-d if you don't see it.

hmm . not updates, had that a few weeks back, that was the red or blue arrows, its not that one. All it does is shade the prim with a script in it a dull red. Like a welcome mat will have a dull red colour to it. ill give things a go later on. thanks guys , ill let you know what happens.
