Hi everyone,
I’m a newbie, with only a few hours in-world. I bought a couple of clothing packages, each of which contains multiple items.
The name of the ‘package’ shows in my inventory, but I haven’t been able to open the package to see/select the individual items. If I wear the package (one of which puts the ad sign for the outfit on me, while the other puts a wooden barrel into my torso) and then right click and select Edit, I can then see a list of items in the contents view.
So, how do I open the package in my inventory so I can choose and wear the individual items that I bought?
Thanks you and Take Care, Sue

Hi Sue and welcome to the forums.
You need to 'rezz' the object on the ground. Just drag the item from inventory to the ground somewhere you are allowed to build. Then right click for the menu options, I usually pick 'open' then 'copy to inventory'.

Hello Sue and welcome to the forum What you have is a box of goodies. You need to unpack the box. First of all check that you are on build-enabled land. (No box with a red line through it at the top of the screen). To open a box, you need to drag it out of your inventory and onto the ground. Then you right-click it and choose open. The contents will then pop up in a new window. You can then choose copy to inventory in that window. If you need somewhere to open your boxes, there's a pick in my inworld profile with a landmark to my hangout. There's also a dressing room there if you need to change in private. Good luck

Hi, thank you for the reply.
I tried dragging it to the ground, and got a message saying that I couldn't build there. How do I find a buildable area?

Welcome to the wonderful world of SL and to these forums, Sue! Drag the box in your inventory to the ground ( in a build enabled area). Then 'open' the box and transfer the items in the box to your inventory. You should then be able to click on them and select 'wear' to wear the items, if they're clothing. And keep coming back if you have any other questions EDIT: Darn, I'm a slow typist!

Sue See my post above I'll send you a landmark. You can unpack boxes at my hangout, just pick up after yourself, or they will be returned to you automatically. If you need any more help feel free to give me a shout inworld. I will also send you a package of new resident information with lots of useful stuff in it. Have fun!

You've been initiated in the world of SL. You've already worn a box/ad by mistake.

You know - I've recently bought items that just appeared in my inventory in folders ready to use, proving that this is possible. I wonder why vendors insist on boxing items (assuming it's not something huge like a house that needs to be rezzed) when they could just deliver a folder and avoid this whole embarrassment. You can't always tell by the little icon whether it's really a box or a flexi skirt or whatever.
The worst I've seen are boxes that contain other boxes. These are like the annoying web pages you go to that have a "welcoming" screen. "Welcome to Oblivia's Knitting Page. Please click here to enter." Well, why'd you think I came here to begin with?
Yes, Sue, I still wear boxes and barrels on my head too. Welcome to Second Life.
