I may have posted on this before....but it's still bugging me. lol I want to make something I create 'modify' only... but every time I check modify and uncheck copy...it automatically re-checks transfer. So...in essence the only thing I seem to be able to do is make my items A. Copy/Mod no transfer B. Copy/Trans no mod C. Mod/Trans no copy D. Transfer no copy/mod
What is the trick here. When I try and check only modify....the transfer gets grayed out AND checked automatically. Should I ignore this? It's driving me flippen batty. lol

You can include a prim, script or other item to be the opposite permissions of the main. i.e put a no transfer script in a no copy object.
Why sell something that people can't copy or transfer? I know I wouldn't buy anything with those permissions unless I really, really needed it.

it has to be either copy or transferable it is the way the system is set up
there are ways to make it appear it isnt buy useing things inside it set to different permissions but no way to make the complete no copy and no transfer

Ok...that makes sense. I HAVE items that I can modify, but cannot copy or transfer...so apparently what you're saying is that isn't actually true...it's just disguised to appear that way? Interesting.
And Denise....the only reason I wanted that particular permission is I make shapes....I want people to be able to adjust them if need be.....but I don't necessarily want them copying and reselling them...AKA stealing my creations to re-sell. It's (from what I've heard) a big issue with shapes especially and I've had a lot of compliments on my work, so I guess I'm just trying to be business savy.
But...that said...if I have to make them mod/copy or mod/transfer....that's what I'll do....I really am only in this for fun and I don't want to get nit picky about that stuff. And for those folks who don't buy shapes cause anyone can make a shape....you are absolutely correct! But, the fact is anyone can make anything in SL.... I could build my house if I wanted to...or make my own furniture...or clothes..... but that's not where my skills (or patience) lie.....so I do shapes....for those folks who don't have the patience to deal with those details. That's why I want to make them modify too....so folks can begin with a template and tweek it to their own liking.

It would seem a shape that is mod would best be copy, too.

From: Osprey Therian It would seem a shape that is mod would best be copy, too. Thats how mine have always been Mod/Copy and just incase they are the type to forget to make a backup before editing I also give them a Backup. Which is also Mod and copy.

From: Damet Neumann well perhaps you dont understand copy doesnt allow them to resell them they have to be transfer to resell copy only allows them to copy them for thier own use Is this what you meant to say? "Perhaps you don't understand. The Copy function doesn't allow buyers to resell an object. The object has to be set to Transfer to resell it. Copy only allows the buyer to copy the object for the buyer's own use." Grammar and punctuation DO make a difference!
