The last time I bought Lindens was back when GOM was still in operation, so I'm not real familiar with the details, but I think one can buy Lindens that go into their in-world Linden balance, for spending, or one can have real dollars added to a real dollar account. Maybe you used the wrong one.

You can check your Linden dollar balance on the website. What does it show there?

Right. Look at your account on the SL website. See if the money is sitting there in your USD balance. If it is, you can use that to buy Lindens, they will pull the amount out of that balance. That's probably what you did. Where did you buy the Lindens from? Were you inworld at the time, and what does your Linden balance say at the top right of your screen, that will tell you if the Lindens you bought transferred over inworld or not. Check the website though.

Your _SLL_ balance is the L$ that you have available to use on XStreet-SL. It can't be used to buy things in-world. Only from the website.

Your _L$_ balance, as seen in-world on the upper right corner of the client window, in the funds you have available in-world, in L$. Those L$ can be used to purchase items in-world, but not from XStreet-SL's website.

To move SLL to L$, you have to go to XStreet-SL, and there is a small "withdraw" link right under the SLL balance value. Use that to specify how much to transfer back in-world.

To move L$ to SLL Balance, you have to find an in-world XStreet-SL terminal, and "pay" it the amount you want to add to your SLL Balance. Money in your SLL balance can be used to purchase things on the XSTreet-SL website.

If this is the first time you have purchased Lindens, there may a hold on your funding. They will not release the Lindens until your payment has cleared. How long that will be depends on what type of payment you used .. and from what country..

If the Hold requires that someone personally release it (non-automated) it may not be until next week since this is a holiday weekend in the USA.

It only takes a matter of a few seconds, far less than 1 minute to receive L$ purchased. The transaction is processed immediately, and your L$ balance should reflect that (plus you receive a system message saying the system paid you 'x' L$.

It can take up to an hour for your account to reflect your credit card info (usually far less, a few minutes usually). Your account dashboard will either say 'pending' under credit card info, or the credit card type (visa, mc, amex, etc). If your account page shows a credit card type then the system has your cc info. If that's the case, in-world, clicking the L$ icon will bring up the purchase Lindens dialog. After you push the buy button, it processes, and you will be paid typically within about 15-30 seconds. At that point, your L$ balance should reflect what you purchased plus what your balance was prior to the purchase. If you attempted to buy something in world and received a message that you don't have enough funds, than you didn't do something right.

Also, if this is the first time you've bought L$, you're going to be limited on how much you can buy for a bit. The limits, which seem different than the last time I looked at them, are at: http://www.secondlife.com/my/lindex/describe-limits.php. The first table is the one - for the next day or so, it won't let you spend more than US$30. After that, it won't let you spend more than US$100 for about a week. Then US$300 for a month then whatever you want after that.

Two questions:

1. Did you buy Lindens through Second Life or through XStreet SL? They are completely different systems. You have to go to the XSL site to transfer your XSL Lindens to Second Life Lindens if you bought them there.

2. Did you buy Lindens or US Dollar credit? If you bought USD credit you have to buy Lindens on Lindex.

That's interesting. I buy things from XStreet all the time from my linden account balance in world and they're auto-deducted.

It would be handy if Linden Lab actually merged the XStreetSL account with the main account, as they've promised. People get confused.
