My house SAYS it comes with full mod/copy permissions. I want to remove the staircase and put in teleport pads. I can select and move around the prims that make up my stair case, but it won't seem to let me delete them. I contacted the orignal builder and he just said it's fully modifiable and I should be able to do it. So, what am I doing wrong? I hate stairs.

I have seen this house set up with no stairs and teleport pads. That's how I thought it came, so it was a real shock to me when it rezzed with stairs.

maybe you're just lagging?

If they are linked to the rest of the house you need to unlink them to delete, or you'll just delete everything or nothing at all (Depending on if 'edit linked parts' is selected).

To delink just the stairs, make sure 'edit linked parts' is selected, select the stairs ONLY and go to tools>unlink

Then delete them ^_^

Did you try unlinking the stairs first? Even with some MOD items, I have been unable to delete a linked part. You can always "Edit linked parts" and move the staircase below ground level.

How are you doing the editing? Are you using the edit tool's edit linked prims to move the stairs? If so, you'd need to unlink the stairs from whatever other prims they are linked to before you can delete them.. also you'd need to be OUT of the edit linked prims mode. Once they are unlinked (relink them before you deselect, it's easier to delete the linked set or to take it back into the inventory) then you'll be able to delete them.

Hi Mara and welcome to the forum :)

I´m gussing the parts that make up your house are linked together.
This means you have to unlink the part you want to delete.
Right-click on the part of the house with the stairs in, then choose edit and in the edit menu click 'edit linked parts'.
Then click on the part you want to remove, make sure that part is the only one highlighted and in the `tools` menu selected ´unlink´ .
If you right-click on that part again it should be highlighted as a single separate item which you can delete.

I´m also guessing the house is copiable btw. If not you may want to ask someone with slightly more experience to do this for you.

Good luck :)

How to unlink is the part I was missing. I was clicking edit linked parts, selecting just the steps, and they just wouldn't go away!

Thanks!

You probably need to unlink the stairs first?

EDIT: Blimey... turn your back for one minute while replying and everyone gets in before you!
