Does anyone have any idea how I can find Dell and IBMs respective islands within the game? I'd like to get some screenshots for an article I'm writing. Anyone who can help and would like to make a comment about either company's presence within the virtual community will be featured in my article as well. Thanks for your help in advance. Please contact an old friend of mine, sim architect Jessica Qin, with regard to IBM's 12 currently invisible sims - grand opening will be soon. They are just to the east of my Caledon sims, not presently visible, but Jessica should have more information for you. I hadn't much time myself to check it out, but with regard to IBM's sims - be prepared for something somewhat spectacular

Go to your map. Type in 'dell' under locations and it should point you right to them.

IBM has a sim that I visited months ago. It has the same name as one of their research centers (single word). What that name is i don't remember.

Wow, Desmond, I'm a Sim Architect now? Way cool! From: Strife Onizuka IBM has a sim that I visited months ago. It has the same name as one of their research centers (single word). What that name is i don't remember. . To my best knowledge there are currently a handful of IBM islands that are restricted access (with more coming soon) plus Almaden, which is public and almost certainly the one Strife is referring to above. Believe it or not, my sim home Jessica is technically an "IBM island" (it's also public). And in addition there's the large 12 sim island complex I'm working on right now. Jess

There is a publicly accessible IBM sim called Almaden, try IBM's Almaden sim -------------- There appear to be 4 Dell sims, they are all totally empty except for me at the moment. There is a good bit of water, I suggest bringing a boat and some friends and having a boat race.

From: Jessica Qin ... plus Almaden, which is public and almost certainly the one Strife is referring to above. Yep thats the one. It was on par with other corporate sims. The display material looked interesting. Looks like they remodeled since I was last there.

I'm quite certain Dell & IBM are inworld to extract everything they can about how SL works. Now that there is free range copying.. and LL can do nothing about it... I'd say within six months LL & SL are sold to either dell or IBM... or the companies figure out how to make their own universe, and remembering that an important aspect to their world is not being able to copy inworld objects.

I'd more expect LL to sell to Google before Dell or IBM. I remember one of the Lindens chatting with a Google guy at SIGGRAPH. I didn't take notes so i don't remember much of the conversation and i had other things on my mind. LL was showing off this cool new featu- *gets struck from behind by a loaf of french bread and collapses*

Whatever the price LL was going to be sold for..... it's now a pennystock, now they're just hoping for any offer.

Dell has their islands up and running. Big company may look at sl as away to gett all the aveage computer geeks to buy their products. Or get more to those that are intersted in games like sl. If you ever worked for a large company you know projectss like sl is one a very very very very very small part of the PR of the company. If the the trend dies for games like sl, so will big companys willing to put money into it. Its only a short term thing for Big companys to test out (platforms wil it more like envor more then a platform) like sl.

What I want to know about these Dells. 1.) Can they run SL? Or ThirdLife, or Solitaire? 2.) Do they do anything besides sit there? 3.) Will the laptops catch fire? 4.) Is it acceptible to dress up like Chris Curtis and go 'Dude!' at the store? 5.) Is the XPS really so leet that it has a custom case to prevent said leetness from impregnating women? 6.) Does this mean we can get some official Alienware swag from them as well? (Dell aquired Alienware recently) 7.) Can I buy Optiplexes in bulk for my company office build? Optiplexes are badass. (No, for reals.)
