The words "community" and "communication" have the same root. Wherever you put a communications network, you put a community as well. And whenever you TAKE AWAY that network—confiscate it, outlaw it, crash it, raise its price beyond affordability—then you hurt that community. LL should read that book. _____________________

I believe the author is correct that the converse is true. If you have a communication network, you get a community, those who use that network. I can't think of an exception. Telegraphy, telephony, radio (both two way and broadcast), the Internet. Chatrooms, newsgroups, website discussion forums. Twitter (god save us). Earlier, the written word. Language groups, local dialects. Communities require communication. Communication spawns communities. Yin and yang. _____________________
