I knew it'd happen, I don't know what took so long, and I predict it will destroy in-world communication in 2010...

I received my first group-join spam advertising a RL website today.

Hurray for unlimited, free accounts.

actually a blog on SL is a real life website too!

do you mean it was advertising products rather than just a website?

It was advertising a website. I don't care what is on the website. It was an SL group invite advertising something non-SL.

An SL bot can easily harvest a lot of names (or just use the name-to-key database someone has so thoughtfully made available) and spam them with IMs or group invites having nothing to do with SL. I don't know what took so long for this to happen. I predict it will become popular in 2010.
