As I wander about, I frequently find places that look like you should be able to see a video on a screen.

I havne't been able to make any of these work.

I did set my preferences to allow "streaming media" but that didn't help.

I have 4 gigs of memory, a very fast video card, a very fast processor, and usually run SL as the only open application...so I don't think this is a resource problem.

What am I doing wrong ?

Thanks for any info.

Just in case you haven't done this, it's very often necessary to press the little "movie projector" icon at the bottom of the screen to start each video stream.

If this is Windows, I'd suggest making sure the QuickTime installation is functional and up to date. If Linux, you'll need gstreamer and a bunch of codecs installed. (Mac, I dunno, maybe QuickTime could need updating.)

If none of these seem to be the problem, it could be a firewall interfering, since the video is delivered directly from the streaming host to your machine, not through LL's serverplex.

Also many video streams are dead, so to help with your troubleshooting, you may want to find one known to work for other folks.
