So I have 512m on mainland and there are some adfarms next to me. One of them went quite a bit overboard and put an obnoxious helicopter (hotpink) right next to my land. I don't really mind the helicopter but the noise is Just awful. Is there anything to be done about the noise pollution? I mean I am building a small workshop and this is just awful for me. Hopefully I am not just out of luck on this one.

I tried. Many many times even went through the whole render beacon thing and nothing worked. It's a "chopper.wav" that's making the sound not a message I think. The object is on my mute list but it is not helping.

I usually have "sounds" turned off in the volume control. No clicky boots, woohoos or other sounds. I don't miss much and I can always turn it up when I want to hear kitten purr as I pet her :)

One of Torly Linden's tip of the week blogs covered muting objects. The problem is, you need to be on the prim that has the sound to mute it.

In my experience, actual sound loops aren't muted by muting the object, but they ARE muted by muting the owner.

If the object belongs to a person you need to receive messages from (like a nice neighbor with an annoying windchime, in my case), politely let them know about the muting and ask them to use an alt or a friend to contact you if necessary.

Have you tried going into your land options menu and restricting spatialized sound to your parcel (a check box in the media tab). I may be wrong, but I thought this restricted sounds effects so that you only hear the ones on your own land.
