can anyone help me please, can not log in as it says I already have a file running. Have deleted and re installed emerald viewer but continue to get same message. Thank You.

The error message is telling you that you are already logged in and that you cannot log in again with that avatar until you log off. It's not an uncommon problem........it even has a term for it called "ghosted". What's happened is that even though you logged off or otherwise disconnected from the servers, the servers have not recognized that. It usually happens when you crash or lose your connection but can happen with a normal intentional log off. Time usually takes care if it but sometimes that time is longer than we want to wait. The only sure way to get your ghosted avie kicked off so you can log in again is request a sim restart. If you are on mainland submit a support ticket telling that you are ghosted and need a sim restart to log on again (LL is well aware of this problem so they'll know what to do). It helps if you know your location but LL can find you with your SL name. If you are ghosted on private land you will have to request a restart from the sim owner..........that requires you to know what sim you are stuck on. And the sim owners are also well aware of this problem......they will know what to do.

Actually, if it says you have a file running.. that means that SL is running in the background somehow some way. You might want to bring up the taskmanager and see if it lists a Second Life process or application running.

Might be that goofy slvoice.exe file stuck I get that happening to me alot. so ctrl alt del then probley have to hit taskman to bring that up and find anything that says emerald.exe or slvoice.exe or secondlife.exe then press the delete key and it will come up asking if you really want to kill the process, say yes (ok) it will end then after you kill those you can relaunch sl.
