If you look at your "My Account" page... "Cancel Account" is available in the Membership link section. (^_^)y

It can also disappear if the person got banned or if their name was deemed offensive.
And I do think the name disappears if you cancel it through the accounts page.

Doesn't it also disappear from the lineup if you've failed to pay your premium fees? I knew someone do disappeared due to this, I think.

A friend of mine who canceled his account about a year ago still shows up on my Friends List, so you may have to be naughty to have it removed altogether.

From: Ann Launay A friend of mine who canceled his account about a year ago still shows up on my Friends List, so you may have to be naughty to have it removed altogether. Accounts are never removed from anyone's friends list no matter what happens. They just clear inventory, clear L$, delist it from search and they stop showing up as members of the groups they were in. They'll stay on your friends list, rezzed prims keep on existing, you can resolve the UUID, and their profile will stay the way it was when they cancelled (including their list of groups even though they don't really belong to them until they're reinstated again).

The OP's friend is missing from his list, which is why I phrased it that way.

From: Ann Launay The OP's friend is missing from his list, which is why I phrased it that way. Well....the only way I know for that to happen is if someone removes you from their freinds list. I didn't know how it worked until I removed a guy from my list (he was a getting weird and needy and clingy and I hate that obligatory attitude of 'you have to spend all your time with me' BS) anyway......I removed him after we had a few 'words' one day. He didn't know right away.....then weeks later he sent me an IM all pissy because my name wasn't showing on HIS friends list. So....I assume if you remove a person.....you in turn are removed from their list. *shrug* Otherwise I don't know.

Your friend may have cleared their friends list before they left.. I had a friend leave a while back... They sent out IM/notecard saying they were leaving, removed all their friends from their list, left all groups and cancelled their account.. It was very sad really..

You can look in your calling cards and see if the name is still in there. When someone removes you from their friends list or the account is closed their name still stays in your calling card inventory I believe. Click on it and it should bring up their profile.

Just curious as to why they left? I played SL a lot in the beginning but moved on to other things and never did I do anything as rash as leave all my groups and de-friend everyone. Its craaazy . I still play when I get a chance. They aren't using a Jump to Conclusions Mat I hope

From: Milla Alexandre ...I assume if you remove a person.....you in turn are removed from their list. *shrug*... That's exactly what happens. Just like your action is required to accept a friendship offer, wiping someone from your list takes you off theirs too. Calling cards will remain, but won't function as online-indicators because your friends list contact is still required to trigger it. So, yes, this probably is someone who quit, but cleaned house properly before doing so. (^_^) I, myself, had an emoweek where I wiped my whole list. There were a few people here and there that noticed I was gone from their list. IMs would come in almost hourly. Honestly, it was the first time in a long time I felt so needed. That was a serious happycry time for me. (^_^)y

They might have removed their profile from search (there's an option to check at the bottom of your profile for this), which will remove them from people search. Using the new All search tab should still bring their profile up, though.

I continue to find it annoying that you can't see a person's last logged in date, and with changes to the groups a while back you can't use that to find out. I just looooove blindly IMing neighbors and never knowing when to give up!

Of course I had to join the group but once I did I could see last log in dates.

Using the new All search tab should still bring their profile up, though. That's what I was thinking as well with that option. I know of someone that just disappeared from people search one day and was really surprised as she was the type of person I figured for being in SL forever. (Of course she could be using an alt.) Didn't know they could still be found on the All search tab though...curious to try that one...thanks.

From what I recall, the new All search tab is based on the Google algorithm, which means that -just like Google- it holds a cached version of the search results for a certain length of time (not sure how long for, though).

Can anyone tell me how long this takes...For example, if a friend said they were leaving SL on 1st September, how long before their name disappeared from the search and the groups they were in???
