I recieved this email and wonder has anyone else gotten an email like this and wouldn't this be considered a Pyramid Scheme? I know it would not be a good idea to even consider doing this, but you know new people might not realize the consiqences :/ . I don't understand why I am targeted with emails like this, I've only been here like 3 1/2 years ..... ******* *** has invited you to join a group in Second Life. ******* *** has invited you to join a group. To join this group, you will have to pay a signup fee of L$3000. Group: Free Land For All: Cooperative Building Society The Intend of this group its to join enough people to buy a cooperative region where every member can build, have a house and there own business. The Land will be bought and own by the group, this means by all of us. We intend to buy it in the end o March. The first member will pay less, and every week the membership price will rise. After 6 months the active members can have the parcel they own for free. Let's build a better and (almost) free Second Life Max Members: 120 Log in to accept or decline this invitation

chances are, once the group owner has what they need for land, they will prolly disappear. i wouldn't chance it.

But the third job, some call it, uh, "the show" or "the big dance," it's the profession that every linden aspires to.

I wouldn't know if I have recieved an email like that. I don't even read them....delete before they even show up in my preview pane. Same with the blue popup box in world. Uninvited offers for anything get immediate deletion.

Hey, I got that invite! I just declined it, but then I decline any group invitation that I have no idea who the person is.
I'd definitely say it's a scam, however. I don't trust anyone with my L$ or land but me, myself and I. I barely trust LL.

In order for this to succeed, there needs to be a never-ending and increased membership until the entire pyramid collapses because there are no suckers left to swindle. Good to see your doing well ZaZas

Not a pyramid on the face of it, but practical problems

120 members at 3000L$ each works out to 5.6 per meter for a full sim, which is not unreasonable at current land prices, and 120 people allows 512m per person with a little left over for common space.
The real issues will be: can you trust the group owner to be honest and not run off with the money? Can the group owner manage 120 "tenants" or "partners"?
It would be impossible to have all 120 people be group owners, cause at least one of them will sell the land to themselves and run off with it.
If its a private island sim, those only cost around L$275,000 ($1000US), which works out to 2300L$ per person, so 3000 is too much to buy it.
Someone somewhere is gonna have to pay tier on the land, whether its require everyone to be premium and kick in their 512 allowance, or collect it as "rent" from the members.

I never trust any "offer" with grammar and spelling like that.

I would suggest you AR them for engaging in gambling and pyramid schemes. It's gambling because you are betting that the group owner doesn't abscond with the cash.

It seems unlikely that many people who are naive enough to fall for this would even have L$3000.

I think I got this one, or one like it a while ago. I however do not enter into agreements with anybody, poor experience renting has led me to only do things with land I own. i.e - mainland, and hopefully in the future, my own private island.

The one bit of advice I give to people that holds well both in SL and in RL.
Don't enter into something that you didn't look for, ask for OR research carefully.
Decline those friendship offers and group invites, if you didn't request them and don't know the person. And don't feel bad about doing it, because you didn't ASK for it.
