I'm trying to take a picture (of the sunset) but my avatar keeps getting in the way. Which is the best way to proceed?
I'm trying to resize it to 512x512

press the alt key and hold the left mouse button and move the mouse to cam in a bit. Sorta like zoom. or tell your av to get the heck outta the way  |

ctrl and alt and the mouse will enable you to manipulate the camera in and out as well as up/down and side to side.,..
so you can get just the right angle

Seriously, Everocker had it. Just cam around until you get what you want in the frame, then take the photo. If you aren't familiar with camera controls, play with them a little. Ctrl and Alt+Ctrl are all you need. If you want to zoom out farther, hit Ctrl D to bring up the Debug menu (it will be up above with the other tabs) and then pick "Disable Camera Restraints" and you can zoom way out.
To reset the camera, either move if you aren't sitting or hit Esc if you are. You might have to hit Esc twice, because the first time it just hides the chat window.

You might also like to play around with the camera controls that you can get from the drop down "view" menu in the upper left of your screen.
