Materialising your TARDIS in SL

Not quite the same as using a flying machine is using that marvellous vehicle known as the TARDIS a superb machine (I reccomend Cheshyr Pontfrain's excellent model here)capable of dematerialising at one point in a region and rematerialising at another so long as rezzing is allowed at the remarterialisation point.

My problem here is that I cannot dematerialise in one region and rematerialise in another...even if the 'landing point' is owned by a friend who permits it.

Im told only the linden system of teleportation is allowed between regions.


Is there any chance of this being changed so that I can materialise in another region where either rezzing is allowed, there is a convenient teleporter 'car park' or friends allow it. ?

Unfortunately that would only work if the TARDIS itself were an attachment...My two TARDISes both are vehicles. My Dalek avi has more prims and is a full body attachment, and with that I can tp.

It would be interesting if rezzed objects could teleport though.

I support this one - sort of like multiple homepoints.

Maybe a script to detect when you were near and the TARDIS is alpha'd and phantom unless you are within 20 meters? You could set up landmarks and use a landmark teleportation system with some kind of landmark selection script to tp you there, where it goes nonphantom and appears?

Oh possibly (even better) a teleport effects hud like I've seen around SL. They will temp rez certain prim objects (I like the trap door with swirling black center) and use animations and sound. With the right build of a TARDIS and the sound when it appears, coupled with an animation, you could 'appear' inside the TARDIS and step out.

That same teleport effects also does it on TP out, maybe stepping in and then the sound and temp prim TARDIS fades.. worth looking into

The teleport effects hud I mention is made by Opus Labs (store name) and they even have a hud that will remember up to 11 locations - teleport with a click

It's possible if whoever scripted it had any grasp of region coordinates whatsoever. With your vehicle - No, because they likely mutilated freebie scripts. I've teleported (enhanced WarpPos) past 4 sims

Problem:

TPing with rezzed objects (or TPing rezzed objects) is that this would break the landowner's ability to prevent object entry, and to prevent build.

While great for vehicle owners, this would open up too much possibility for griefers, who's main weapons need Build to function.

Now, IF LL would all the option to TP with rezzed objects AND include a land option to disallow TPing with rezzed objects to parcel, THEN I would be for this idea wholeheartedly. Not just with vehicles, but scritpors/builders would have a whole new interface to pick up and run with ^.^

The best thing I could see would be to allow tppingin the manner I suggested between those parcels where rezzing objects would be allowed. Personally I like the idea of telportation 'car parks' in sl.
