SLim question... i *have* to have SL installed on a machine, to use SLim??

Hi there,
i thought SLim was a "lightweight chat client for SL"... but i'm also reading that to run it, you need the latest version of SL installed... i was thinking this was a great software to put on an old pc, or at work, when unable to actually run SL.. but is this not the case, am i reading it right - you NEED SL installed on the machine? doesnt that kinda... defeat the object?

Not only that, anyone you talk to with it HAS to have signed up for SLim or it wont work. Use ajaxlife, it's much better, it's web based, and doesn't require anything installed. It also offers more options than SLim does.
