An Odd WL Glitch

Ok.....here's a weird one.......anyone have this experience...or have any thoughts as to what's going on.....

I use windlight all the time....love it! I have created probably 50 or so of my own sky settings and about 10 water settings. I've been doing this ever since WL came on the scene so I'm well familiar with how it all works.

But....the other day I made a new water setting and saved it. As I was taking pics....I changed to a different water pre-set........and then decided to change back to the new one I had made. But....even after selecting the new pre-set.....the water didn't change. So....I selected other pre-sets....some defaults, some my own.....all fine. Except the one I had just made.

So....I log out.....puzzled but not distraught. When I re-log later on......that newest water preset is GONE. No longer in my list. Ok.....I make it again....re-name it.....save it. (also, to note, I never change the water texture image, only the sliders and color, so it's not a texture glitch)

Once again.....I am able to name & save my new pre-set.....but once I change out of it....It does not show properly if I try to return to it. I realized, after that......that there were a couple other water presets that I KNOW I created......but are not there.

It seems as if the water pre-sets are capping on me. All my previous presets work just fine........I just can't seem to hang on to any new ones. LOL Anyone experience this?

I'll post a jira, but I am curious if this is a new glitch or something that's happened before. I haven't seen anything else on it in my searches.

I have about ten custom sky settings and no custom water settings. As I wanted them all realistic even with only ten I began to repaeat myself. Could 50 be the maximum? It seems odd that it would only be doing this on water.

Give me a couple more years to catch up with you and I may experience this also.

There are a lot of us who are curious what some of your best setttings look like

I gave up saving my WL settings. Sometimes they're in the list, sometimes they're not. And ALL are erased everytime I have to install a new version of the client.. urgh!

Hmmm.....well I've been told there's no cap on how many settings we can make....but apparently I've got a glitch in my water settings....oh well.

I wish there was a way I could more easily share my settings.....but to my knowledge all I can do is put the files in a zip and email em to someone.

I've never had a problem with losing the settings upon updates.....but I also do keep a back up file on my desktop of all the WL settings I create.....so if they do get dumped in a vwr update....I can just put them back in the current vwr file where they belong.

Oh....and just an FYI for those who hate the wacky WL lighting.....if you keep your sun position at either, early morning or early evening and not a high noon/afternoon.....you wont get the terrible horror movie shadows on the face. Then....you can ajdust you east/west sun position according to where you're at.....to make it even smoother. Lastly....you can adjust your gama and ambient light so that even with the lower sun, you'll still have a well lit day. ;)

I'm seriously considering doing a WL class......it's really a fantastic tool once ya get the basics down and understand how the sliders effect the environment. :D
