Tsk...is it a bug? I cant seem to click on people and get their profiles...tried the name above them, their body...gettting up REAL close etc..averaging about 5-8 clicks to get it up, sometimes it doesnt work at ALL and I have to snoop via search...

I think it's an issue with network latency or the speed at which the Second Life asset servers are responding. It tends to happen to me at peak SL times, and/or when I'm on a crowded sim. When Second Life lags, profiles load slower or not at all. It's been a recurring problem for me for at least a year now.

May not be a bug. I have a friend that uses a sheild sometimes. I was going crazy trying to click on her profile to drop something (yea yea I coulda went into my friends list but it was bugging me). I told her something was wrong but she said she was wearing a sheild. Another reason this might be happening is kind of the same concept. The avatar might be standing behind an invisiprim like a strobe light in the club and you have to cam around them to get into their profile.

yeah, had that problem in a club... found clickign the hair worked great for getting profiles to even show up

Hmmm so I am not the only one with this problem, having to click things repeatedly to work...

So you have 2 options =
- keep trying over and over, it usually takes me 3 or 4 tries
- click once and if it doesn't work, just imagine what is in their profile.

To the OP: are you using the RC viewer? I read that LL has been tinkering with the algorithm that determines click placement and has made it faster, but less accurate. I don't know if this is your problem.

I generally (not using the RC, speaking completely generally) find it easier and more reliable to click on name tags than parts of avatars, but lately I have been playing with name tags off so I will need a new tactic.

Another cause of difficulty clicking on a person or an object is a transparent prim getting in the way.

I’ve had that problem my self, try clicking your own profile, let that come up then the other persons --That seems to work for me.

For big hair certainly!
R-clicking on any attachment has the conformation of highligting the attachement/hair, so you know you've hit the target. The attachment is the person. (Be the attachment!!) This maybe only shows if you have Tools/Edit_Only_My_Objects unchecked ?????
Aiming for the name tag or even the avatar in general is potentially hostage to all sorts of prims impersonating transparent things like light beams or shields.
