Ok...I am confused. I have on my old computer SL and the Windlight Viewer, which I thought was now called Release Candidate. So, on my new computer, I had the old version of SL and wanted to download Windlight....which I cannot seem to find on this website. So, thinking RC was the same thing, I downloaded it. Which it is not. Then I downloaded the thing called First Look...and that wasn't what I was looking for either... I have down uninstalled all of it except SL and RC. What do I need to do to get back the look of Windlight I have on my old computer?
Thanks! -Blu-

The former separate Windlight client has now been merged into the Release Candidate viewer. It's not the same, but the successor, so to say.
Unfortunately the new, merged RC viewer has some catching up to do stability-wise. Lots of crashes since 1.19 came along.

Oddly, I downloaded the RC, and have had fewer crashes than the official current release on the same setup.

Ah...thanks! I couldn't figure out why on RC my sunsets were not as spectacular as they had been on Windlight. I had to mess around with the preferences to get it back.

In the beginning, there was Windlight First Look (fall-down-go-boom edition). Followed by the circle-in-the-sky edition. Then the hahaha-teleport-logoff edition. (=_=) Later came the chance that Windlight was ready for realease. So we got the Windlight Release Candidate (wait-wasn't-that-button-somewhere-else? edition). Followed by the you-want-to-attach-what-where? edition. Quickly followed by the new-and-improved-hahaha-teleport-logoff edition. (T_T) So, yeah, Windlight has been promoted to Release Candidate. The old First Look client won't work anymore and needs to be un-installed manually to get rid of it. Maybe in another couple months, it will be built in to the new regular client. (^_^) Just.... Please..... NO DAZZLE!!!!! (>_<

The Aditi grid is the test grid. Also referred to as the Beta Grid. The normal "real" grid is the Agni grid. Currently the url for downloading the Beta Grid, the agni grid, is http://secondlife.com/community/preview.phpThe description on the download page for the beta grid reads as follows: From: someone Community: Beta Test Grid The Beta Test Grid is for testing purposes only. While user information is fetched from the main grid, all Linden Dollar, content, land, and other transactions are transitory. Updates made on the beta test grid will not be applied to the main grid. All users will have a starting amount of at least L$5000. As with objects, attachments, clothing, etc., any updates to a resident's account (including monetary transactions) on the beta test grid will *not* be reflected on the main grid.
NOTE: The Beta Test Grid environment is transitory and for testing purposes only! When you download the beta grid client and connect to the beta (aditi) grid, your viewer will have a menu bar that's a different color than the normal viewers will have. When you are in the beta grid and look at the map, most of SL will be missing.

There have been some times in the past when you could buy land in the beta grid, but generally you can't.
I assume they just don't bother to run the land sales processing part of the system for the beta grid unless they have some reason to test something about it.
When land sales were working in the beta grid in the past, there was often a bit of command line parameters that one needed to add to the SL shortcut's target field to get it to work. I don't recall it exactly. I don't think the land sales are working in the beta grid now anyway.

ok. thanks. so, i can wander and marvel at all the cool builds, and stand somewhere and pretend to upload textures (although that won't work either) and try on my new stuff to test it.... all in public? LOL good thing there aren't many people wandering about.
