question about IMs and email

I've got what I'm hoping is an easy question... When I started SL, and for several months after, IMs that I received while not in-world went directly into my email. For some reason a number of weeks ago this stopped happening. Now I still get group notices in my email, but not IMs.

Does anyone know if there is some setting that I have missed that will send your SL IMs to your email?

You know, I've been wondering this too. Seems like roughly half my IMs get sent to e-mail, and the other half I never know about until I login. Weird.

Go to your account then look for e-mail contact.

If it's a Hotmail account, switch to Gmail. Hotmail got finicky with me.

This function stopped working properly a few weeks ago, like you say. Your email contact is set properly because you're getting some of them, you just never know which ones you'll get, and what all you're missing. I get some small portion of them also. I'm majorly pissed off about this and I submitted a ticket. (I also posted a thread about it, but hardly anyone responded to it).

In the mean time, I put a big warning in my profile that IMs-to email isn't working properly, and to send a notecard if people don't get a response from me.

I wondered about that, because mine is a hotmail account. Is anyone having this problem on a non-hotmail account?

I have not missed any that I know of with my Gmail account. The problem I was having with Hotmail was it stopped sending my responses via email back inworld. But that was about 9 months ago.

I had the problem with a Netzero account a while ago. It cleared up when I got a gmail account specifically for Argos. If you're missing IM's, remember that you will also miss notecard & other inventory offers. Check your recent items inventory when you log in if you think you are missing some offline IMs.

I have Yahoo and I get them all...but problem is some of them end up in my inbox and others in my trash and others still in my junk folder.

Gmail here and haven't seen an IM when I logged in that I didn't see in email. Also, replying via email is such a life-saver for business relations. I can't log into SL at work (can't even get to the web, but that's a different story), but I can use my iPod (Touch) to reply to IMs via email wherever I can get a WiFi signal.

I have aol, and today after making sure the box was checked on the sl website, I started receiving at least some of my IMs there (actually, just yours Avion).

Maybe I should set up a gmail account just for SL, it sounds like that seems to work better.

I use Yahoo for Sl and no problems, but those with Comcast accounts might be having problems. We have all sorts of grief from Comcast here at work. It's been wonky for weeks now.

yah, don't depend on comcast service to tell you the truth... most times might be okay, but othertimes...

wouldn't be surprising if a u.s. comcast network was on the 'short list' for u.s. surveillenance. keep your nose frosty.
