combat meter question

hi all, im currently working on creating a combat meter for some friends and i was wondering if anyone could spare the time to answer a question. i worked out how to sccript the meter for impact from projectile weapons and at the same time worked out how to disable the effect of an AV bumping into the meter and causing damamge. the final thing im left with has me a little lost.

does anyone know how i'd go about making the script regisiter melee dammage, i know that it has something to do with detecting the imput from user, up down left and right in conjunction with the mouse as obviously melee weapons dont shoot out mini projectiles (though i suppose some actually do)

anyway, thanks in advance for any help that comes up.

Yep they do - or they use a sensor to detect if a hit is posible then use llSay on a secret channel to relay a hit on the meter from the weopn. Its very flakey and a real shame but it does kinda work.
