So I wandered around Zindra last night and was most impressed with the beautiful roads they had.....and train tracks too. I had to check to make sure I didn't accidentally TP'd to Caledon.

I think it's great that those on Zindra will have these, however, has the mainland been forgotten? I don't hear about anything happening on any other continents.

it is beautiful, nice and all that. But, come on...there is just to much Road!!! Cuts up the land, and looks bad. I'd rather have the mainland roads, fewer and further apart...and see the land rather than asphalt. And what is up with no beach for sale or trade there? Lindens will probly put beach land for sale after all the trades are done...put beach land up for auction to make tons of money as it will be highly sought after. PS...I do like the 3 and half mountains they put in, but again you look off the mountain and see nothing but roads!!!!!!

Unfortunately, the Mole that made those roads apparently knew NOTHING about how to make a road that straddles a sim edge actually be USABLE.

They are pretty, sure. But try to walk across one. At the center line, I will assure you that you'll fall through the prims as if they were phantom, and end up embedded in the road. Cross the centerline with a vehicle or cross any intersection at sim corners, and you'll have the same issue.

The solution to that building problem has been readily available in these forums for OVER A YEAR. But did they bother to look and see if there was a solution? Did they even bother to check to see if the roads were USABLE? Apparently, they did not.

And to make matters worse, the mole that built them "no longer works as a mole". And they are owned by Governor Linden now. So no one can fix them, either.

Great job, LL.

Suggest LL should send some Moles to the Rutgers University sims, RUCE 1 through RUCE 4, to learn how those roads SHOULD have been built along the sim edges. Or have them IM me, and I'll teach them how to do it right, for free.

Yeh it does seem nice, but for when I tried to TP there it was to full a few times.

The roads are to much for me, I'm looking in the country side, which I assume is residential, it all just looks so small.

I understand that the blocks they created are probably too small for some. But it's not the entire continent. There's that small area that is obviously a city, though I don't know if they have a name for it. Once you get out away from that area then you'll find less roads and also railroad tracks.

I think the roads work out well. There will be some who hate them and some who like them....this option gives everyone a chance to be in an area that they prefer.

Where are the smaller parcels?

I am out in the country and so far it's all big parcels owned by the maintenance team which look like they aren't for use.

If they keep the shores as park land that'd be so good.

I'm not there, but I believe it's on the south side of the island. There are some glass structures that were full of people checking it out last night. Next to impossible to get in the sim for away.

That's the area where you'll see small blocks built like a RL city. As you get in the countryside there are the usual connecting sims with no roads, etc. Just different size parcels of land

I love the roads, I love the trees, I love the flashing lights. Looks like a miniature train set!

Proof that they are, in fact, Linden roads:

I believe moles are currently finishing the roads on Jeogeot, then are moving to some road work on Gaeta. Other recent projects are the Bay City Municipal Airport (a soon-to-be Info Hub) and the Linden Memorial Garden. There was a lot of work going on with the SLRR, but that had to be postponed for a while because of changes in the Mole program.

Thank you for answering my question(s). I'm glad to hear that work has continued on in other areas.

Hmm... I'm not much into roads - I prefer wide open spaces, mountains and beautiful landscapes. I don't mind the overgrown tracks on the atoll, but most of the roads in SL are way too civilised, especially on Zindra. I much prefer cities to be ramshackle and organic, too, rather than constructed on a grid. I'd have made a hopeless Roman :D

*scratches shaggy head*

Hard to know what "train tracks" were seen by the OP six months ago. Possibly the monorail station in the Mosh port? Or maybe ome of those funky wooden beach sidewalks, seen from a distance?

The monorail is now functioning. It's fun. Well, it's like a roller coaster that has at least one fatal incident per trip, but it's still fun.
