All these items are just sitting there, not being used. Is there a way to delete them permanently?

You cannot actually delete the Library because it is not really yours. However, you can modify your SL startup such that the Library does not display: add "-noinvlib" (without the quotes) to the properties line in your shortcut for starting SL.

You can't really delete them because they are not part of your inventory. You can hide them, hopefully that's good enough. In Advanced->Debug Settings, set NoInventoryLibrary to TRUE, then relog.

control-alt-shift-D (shift isn't always necessary, but I once read some Linden said using shift increase the odds of it working on more machines)

From: Shu Zemenis wow this debug settings thing is really cool! And dangerous, if you don't know what you are doing. Its possible to totally fuck up your viewer settings with it. The most useful feature to me has been Renderfarclip, which is the same as draw distance. I normally keep it at 40m, which is below the normal preferences limit. This causes me to load much faster indoors. If I really need to see further, I can always change it.

From: TigroSpottystripes Katsu control-alt-shift-D (shift isn't always necessary, but I once read some Linden said using shift increase the odds of it working on more machines) I can see it now, SL goes down big crash, an engineer in the background struggling to get it back up shouting "ohh god it won't come back on line" and Phil screaming across the room "try shift, try shift"!
