Open the person's profile. There you will find a space called "send item to inventory" or so. Drag your notecard from your inventory to this place and drop it into it. That's all.

Welcome in SL and have fun
Georg

Hi Cerridwen,

To send an inventory object (such as a notecard) to another person open search and find their profile. Once their profile is open you can open your inventory and drag the item from your inventory into the rectangle near the bottom of the other person;s profile (it's just above the buttons). Drop the item in that rectangle and it will be sent to them.

The other person can then choose to accept or decline the item. :) If they are not online, it will be waiting for them when they log in.

First off, taking a snapshot.

I press ctrl+shift+S key to bring up the snapshot interface, but you can also pull down the FILE menu in world to "TAKE SNAPSHOT".

You can either take just a standing shot of your avatar, or find a pose you like. (try looking around in pose shops and start snapping pics when you find a pose you like). You can refresh the image if you change positions or camera angles.

(there is a handy set of tools to manipulate the camera under the VIEW menu, CAMERA CONTROLS)

Be sure the radio button is on "Upload a snapshot" and this will cost you $10L each attempt. When you get everything lined up just as you like it, click on SAVE.

When you get the image you like best, right click on it in your inventory and rename it with your name. (once you take the picture, you'll find it in your PHOTO ALBUM folder)

When you've finished getting the perfect snapshot (or.. close enough), then fill out the application itself following whatever directions are on it.

*to include your snapshot on the application notecard: Open your inventory and scroll to the snapshot you created with your avatar name on it.

Drag it over to the notecard. If you did this correctly, you'll see an icon which represents an image, and your name underlined.

Once you're finished, as the other posters have indicated in their posts, you open the person's profile and drag the completed notecard over to the inventory slot near the bottom of the profile and drop it. If they're online (hopefully) they accept it. If they're not online, you'd see a message letting you know it's been saved until they are online.

How to find that person's profile. An easy way is to click on SEARCH at the bottom of the viewer, click on the PEOPLE tab, type their name into the search field and click SEARCH button. Their profile will come up.

Good luck!

another quick way to get a profile (if the person was smart and did the notecard themselves) is to right click the notecard, choose properties, and then look at the creators name

(if you got an application notecard or info card I mean)

as I said if they are smart they will have made the card themselves

Hi and welcome to Second Life!

If you are paying for this school, maybe you should wait a day or two. There's many classes and tutorials for free.

I recommend this blog: http://www.mermaiddiaries.com/
where you can choose: "Get started in Second Life". It is a great place to read and learn.

Besides dropping an object on the "give inventory" space on a person's profile, you can:

- drop it right on their avatar, if they're there with you

- drop it on their profile picture in the "2nd Life" tab.

- open an IM window with them and drop the inventory on that. (This is a new feature in the latest viewer).

And before you spend any significant money on a school for any SL job, do some more looking around and just talking to people. And send me an IM in world...I'll drop an article on money and jobs on you.

if you have trouble hooking the picture to the notecard, right click on it, choose properties and enable copy/transfer

welcome to SL!

They say you learn something new everyday and I justed learned 3 things! Nearly 6 years i've been dropping onto profiles oblivious to these other options.

ooh how i've wasted my 2nd life!
