Mainland rental parcels, that is.

Our little business venture, which was based on small (512 to 1024, mostly) parcels and prefab houses, did well for a while, but lately it's been awfully empty. I think a lot of our potential renters moved to more spacious abodes on Open Space sims.

Has anyone found success in renting larger mainland parcels, possibly just as bare land? say, 1/8 to 1/4 sim?

Nope. Nor for renting for more than 2 to 2.5L per prim, lately.

Speaking as a consumer, I wouldn't be interested in anything less than a 4096 M2 parcel any more. But I rent 1/4 of a sim now, so I am spoiled rotten by having lots of prims to play with. Going to anything less than 4096 now would be like a couple who had been married 20 years, with all the furnishings and stuff accumulated in that time, trying to go back to living in an efficency Studio apartment. My stuff just won't fit.

Out of 53 mainland rentals our average size is 6,197sqm, maximum size is 56,448sqm and median is 3,072sqm and we have 5 renters over 16384sqm.
