Hi folks... can anyone help me with the graphics corruption I have started getting... do they recognise it as maybe being a power supply problem as opposed to a graphics card problem? http://www.pix8.net/pro/pic/130900FKvg/1106009.jpg (280KB file) My PC runs XP Pro SP3, P4 2.8GHz, 1GB PC2100, ATI X1950 5i2MB AGP card, CAT 7.11, PSU Enermax 431W EG465P-VE (FC) (+12V 20A rail). I dont have any other "3D" games installed to test, and SL can run fine for days, then suddenly I get the corruption you see in the picture. If I exit SL .. the desktop and any windows I open are corrupted with dots all over it, I have to reboot to clear it. The card never goes above 60C according to the utility with it. It idles at 50C. All fans are running..including the fan on the graphics card itself. No heavy build ups of dust inside the PC. Im asking cos I cant afford a new power supply AND a new graphics card... so need help with suggesting what might be the most obvious. Hope this isnt off-topic. TIA Kali

Personally, if SL runs fine for days, I'd say "problem solved!" and save up toward a whole new machine some day. Here's why: The current graphics card is AGP, which sure suggests the machine doesn't have a PCI-E graphics card slot, and it would be kind of a waste at this late date to be buying a replacement AGP card unless one really had no choice--especially because the current card is fairly high-end, so a comparable replacement won't be all that cheap. I guess the first thing I'd try if I really wanted to tackle the problem itself is to make sure I had the latest drivers from ATI. And then check that the Catalyst controls are at reasonable settings. I'd really avoid putting money into hardware for this machine, if at all possible.

Hi, you could also try underclocking the card slightly. But please make sure that the fan and heat sink of your graphics card is totaly clear of dust first, as i does not take much to block some airflow and artifacting is one of the first things you will see as a result. As for the power supply, have you added anything to your system lately that could tax the power making it unstable? if not, i wouldnt think it would be that personaly. Good luck
