.raw files - does parcel data load?

I should probably know this, but... I don't. :)

Of late, I've started to use Cadroe Murphy's spectacularly wonderful Bailiwick program to define parcels on the region .raw files prior to region rollout. Parcelling wasn't much of a problem in the past, but it's sort of hard for me to work inworld with the IM volume I get, so, anything that saves me time...

I know Cadroe's program is working because I can go into photoshop, separate the channels, and see the parcels in the parcel channel defined very nicely. But the question is this: if I upload the .raw to a region, will the parcel data come inworld with it, or is it only the terrain height layer data?

This isn't something I can really 'test' with the regions I have, insofar as they are all occupied and I doubt 15-25 people per region would really appreciate my blasting away their group and parcel data by accident. And a standalone region offline doesn't seem to upload this properly (I tried) - not that doing so should have any bearing on what happens on our main grid.

How about other things, like say, edit land and other .raw file channel controls - do they all upload into world properly?

Any relatively recent info would be appreciated!

I've never managed to get them to load up Des, so unless I have completely missed something, only a few of the channels of the raw file actually carry any data to the sim.

I just wasted a bunch of time trying to split parcels with bailiwick. Never got it to work so I finally had to do it by hand.

It worked well for converting gray scale images to raw elevation files.. but no parcel data..

Edit: From an earlier thread:

This doesn't answer the question, but, there's a nice article on terrain editing at http://emmanowhere.blogspot.com/2007/03/when-i-first-terraformed-nowhere-sim-i.html

I have not looked at the link yet but it looks like a good place to look.

Thanks for the replies!

That saved me a bunch of wasted effort for sure!

*wonders if he should bother to jira it...*

I have created .raw files that had only three layers defined - the heightmap and height multiplier, and the water level. And I have loaded those onto sims that had parcels already defined, with no effect on the other data that should be in the .raw file. All parcel boundries and ownership remained intact.

It is advantageous to be able to see the parcel mapping in a .raw file, so you can terraform around existing parcels, or keep a river in a 'protected waterway' area. But you can't affect parcel info.

Having the option to do so would be nice, in some cases. Imagine laying out all the parcels in a rental sim in one swoop! But most of the time, you want to leave that alone when you are terraforming.

I tried to do this when I got my first island last March. I made up a beautiful and accurate parcel map and had that in my raw file, but when I uploaded it, nothing happened. I fiddled with it for 2 or 3 days before finding out that the consensus was only the first 3 channels actually do anything on an upload.

The other channels do seem to work on download (except the parcel one), so you can see in a RAW file what parcels are flagged for damage, allow fly, public build, edit land, etc. I don't know if those do anything when you upload them, but for sure the parcel channel is not used.
