Suspicious item - anyone recognize this hair?

Does anyone recognize the hair in this image:

It was given to me today by someone in a club after I said how much I liked it. I'd inspected it on her and found the 'creator' was a new avatar made in late october with no PioF and a blank profile - no shop, no picks, no classified, no nothing. the item is 87 prims, with amazing detail... It was no copy, no mod, trans. And she said she was fine giving it to me as the guy she got it from would give her another.

That just sets off all kinds of alarm bells in my head.

If anyone recognizes this item, and thinks they might know who made it, I'd like to know - I'd like to make sure I can find a legitimate copy of it, or be assured if my copy actually is legit (before I wear it again). And if its not legit - I want to get the info on how I got it and who it claims to be made by to the actual, real maker.

Have you thought of asking in the Commerce Forum? https://blogs.secondlife.com/community/commerce/blog/
Apologies if you've already posted there, and no, sorry, I don't recognize the hair.

It looks like some styles from Curious Kitty (Kitties?). And you're right, that does not look legitimate.

Too investigatory for my taste.

I would just delete it and go about my business. Tracking down copy botters / thieves turns my SL into something other than what i want it to be and down a steep mountain of stress.

Yeah its Curious Kitties.

I sent the shop owner a notecard, and I've even found the original, which I've bought a legit copy of now.

Lol...
Oh well to each its own, if it makes you feel dramatically better to buy a duplicate copy of an item.

I have a shop - I don't sell much for profit, but I can understand how bad it would feel to have my products ripped and credit / my earnings taken.

You can't stop copy theft unless you step up and take a stand. So yes, if I find an illegal item, I'm going to let the rightful owner know, and I will make sure names get handed out to the proper authorities.

I was gonna guesstimate it was Deadkitties. Deadkitties, Curious Kitties...Who can keep track of all the kitties?

/me wonders if Deadkitties was the sequel expansion shop to Curious Kitties...you know how the saying goes.
