Working through the early pages of "Second Life for Dummies". It has a fairly thorough detail on the preferences, but the book lists a 'Graphics Tab' which isn't much like what I find when I bring up the preferences window. Then the book lists a 'Graphics Detail Tab' which has lots of stuff in it: Shaders, Avatar Rendering, Lighting Detail, Terrain Detail, and Mesh Detail sliders for Object, Flexible, Tree, and Avatar. Then there is Advanced Graphics Tab. Neither Graphics Detail Tab nor the Advanced shows up in my preferences window. What gives? Are these things available anywhere?

Thanks.

Not inworld right now, but I believe there is a "custom" button on the Graphics tab screen. Click that and you should see all the stuff for shaders, etc pop up.

Edit/Preferences/Graphics. Then click the Advanced button in the Graphics window. It will expand to show all that stuff.
